Summary of Job Duties:

The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences is recruiting a post-doctoral researcher to carry out research in G-protein coupled receptors in primary neurons. Candidates should have experience in obtaining cell cultures of primary neurons and super resolution fluorescence microscopy as demonstrated by at least one first author publication in a reputable journal. The candidate will be highly motivated, organized, and responsible with a PhD in chemistry, biochemistry, biophysics or a related discipline. All applications will be considered but priority will be given to those applicants with background, interest and/or experience in the focus area.


Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in biochemistry, cell biology, physiology, chemistry
  • Applicants should have recent experience in biochemistry, cell biology, superresolution microscopy


Additional Information:

Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of neurons in primary culture and imaging by immunofluorescence and superresolution microscopy
  • Ability to engeneer viral vectors expressing proteins
  • Abilty to carry out immunoprecipitation and Western Blot analysis
  • Ability to prepare samples for mass spectrometry
  • Independently perform experiments in areas assigned by the supervisor
  • Assist in drafting manuscripts for publication
  • Assist in mentoring or training graduate students, medical students, or undergraduate students.
  •  Attend and present at national and international meetings and workshops.  
  • Assist in other lab duties as assigned 
  • Demonstrates effective communication skills; communicates accurate and complete information; maintains strict confidentiality when necessary.
  • Demonstrates positive working relationships with co-workers, management team, and ancillary departments.
