The Position Description is:

Reporting into the North America sales organization, this highly motivated individual will leverage their strong existing relationships with key decision makers in the Military and Aerospace industry and lead a team focused on identifying emerging opportunities in the US Government and Military and Aerospace customer segment. In this role, the individual will have a strong influence on the development of customized solutions from Cadence that will align with and successfully grow our business in the Military and Aerospace sector.

The successful candidate will be accountable for recommending the overall strategy for this sector and is responsible for the development and implementation of the business growth plan.

The candidate will collaborate with internal R&D and other corporate teams, external field teams and the customer to develop and execute on complex strategies and drive mutually beneficial business.

This is a high visibility role inside Cadence with significant Executive Management interaction. 

This role provides an opportunity to leverage your existing relationships as well as influence product direction and strategy with the goal of deepening strategic partnerships and driving business growth.   

Key responsibilities will include:        

*Leveraging industry knowledge and contacts to assess market segments that Cadence may want to pursue and understand how we would position Cadence as a strong partner in the Mil/Aero sector

*Creating and maintaining a detailed market assessment

*possible opportunities, barriers to entry and the tailored product solutions that would be required to succeed in each sector within this market

*these solutions may include combinations of electronic design automation software, semiconductor IP, services, and high speed emulation computing hardware and hosted ‘software as a service’ business models-         

*Partnering with R&D business units to assess what would be required to make these tailored solutions available and driving the business case discussion that determines the potential ROI on any recommended investment in the context of the expected size of each opportunity        

*Partnering with Finance, legal and sales operations to assess the business models that would be needed to close business with companies operating in this sector         

*Recommending a business development strategy for the mil/aero sector based on the market assessment, ROI and availability of tailored solutions and identifying the actions and resources that will be required for this plan to be successful-*Leading the execution of the agreed business development plan, opening strategic conversations with key influencers and decision makers in our chosen segments, leveraging resources within the field and the R&D business units as necessary to position Cadence as the partner of choice within this sector and close on the identified opportunities.

*Review and adjust strategy as we continue to develop our understanding of the market.

The Position Requirements are:         

*4 year university degree in Computer Science or Engineering. Advanced technical or business degree preferred.-         

*10+ years sales and/or business development for high technology firms in the semiconductor, electronic systems, and/or software industries-         

*Strong track record of success selling to or working in the Military and Aerospace segment-         

*Relationships with key personnel in the Military and Aerospace customer segment, including senior leaders of decision makers and influencers in the DOD, including DARPA, IARPA, Secretary of Defense, and/or the Armed Forces commands and labs.     

*Strong executive presence with solid communication and leadership skills

*Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team, while influencing product development tailored towards end customer requirements-         

*Understanding of the electronic systems and semiconductor industries, with a strong grasp of the underlying technical issues-         

*Frequent travel across NA to meet with prospects and Cadence team members
