The City and County of Denver offers a competitive salary commensurate with education and experience. The starting salary range for this position is $74,276 - $98,415/year based on experience and education. We also offer generous benefits for full-time employees which include but are not limited to:

Location

This position will be based at 4495 Jason Street, Denver, CO. This position will participate in a flex shift Monday - Thursday from 6:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m. and Friday, 6:00 a.m.-2:30 p.m. with every other Friday off. Candidates must be willing and able to respond to after hour emergencies and park needs.

What You’ll Do

Denver's Parks & Recreation Department has an opportunity for an Amenities Operations Supervisor for our Citywide Parks Amenities team. This position will be responsible for a variety of construction, maintenance, and repair of parks sport courts, fencing, and amenities. This individual will have the opportunity to work mostly independently among a small, specialized team, working on parks amenities and keeping the public safe in the community. For example, this position will maintain and help ensure all sports This position will work as a part of the Amenities Legacy Team focused on park improvement projects courts are functional and safe for public use.       

    

This position emphasizes knowledge of repairs, fabrication, maintenance, and cost repair analysis with all sport courts and fencing in the Denver Parks system. Types of courts include outdoor and indoor basketball courts, tennis courts, futsal courts, pickle ball courts, horseshoe pits, handball courts, and various other court structures in the parks system. This position will also focus on fencing, chain-link, wood picket, split rail, farm-fence, aluminum/rod iron panel and various other protective barriers within the parks system.

Job duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Supervise a team of up to 6 full time employees and 2 seasonal employees involved in the operation, construction, maintenance, and/or repair of City amenities, and the accompanying infrastructure

  • Perform semi-skilled, unlicensed trades work on a regular basis in multiple trades areas including welding, concrete, asphalt, masonry, and painting, etc.

  • Perform repairs and maintenance on the following sport courts:

    • Basketball: back boards, rims, poles, brackets, connections, play surface areas

    • Tennis/Pickleball: nets, straps, cranks, posts, play surface areas, gates, fencing

    • Horseshoe: pits, posts, backstops, surface area, grading

    • Handball: structural, surface area, fencing, gates

    • Futsal: goals, nets, tiles, fencing, gates, surface areas

  • Perform construction and maintenance work such as fencing installation and repair, replacement calculation, temporary fence installation, concrete forming and repair, and asphalt operations

  • Perform repairs and replacements to playground equipment

  • Assist skilled trades workers in the construction, maintenance, and repair of a variety of machinery, equipment, and facility systems and structures

  • Inspect facilities and equipment to identify construction, maintenance and repair needs including estimating materials, labor, time, and cost of repairs

  • Operate and maintain light to heavy equipment including trailers, snowplows, compressors, skid steers, lift trucks and large dump trucks and various equipment attachments

  • Participate in snow removal duties as assigned which may include extended hours, weekends, and holidays.

We are looking for a well-rounded and experienced Operations Supervisor who can work effectively on a team but is highly motived enough to complete work orders and projects independently as needed. Additionally, our ideal candidate will have: 

  • 5 years of experience performing a variety of duties in construction, mechanical, or facility maintenance

  • Experience with various types of court maintenance, court surfacing, and court structural repairs

  • Experience with various types of fence maintenance, installation, and repairs

  • Construction and maintenance experience in commercial facilities or parks amenities, such as asphalt concrete, masonry, welding, and compound structural repairs

  • Experience operating light duty trucks, plow trucks, dump truck, skid steers, hand tools, power tools, air compressors, jack hammers, and demolition tools

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate

  • Experience: 3 years of experience in the operation of equipment characterized by tandem axles or auxiliary functions OR performing semi-skilled labor in the maintenance of public grounds and/or facilities and supplemented by experience or training in equipment operation.

  • Licensures/Certification(s): This job requires driving. Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment

  • Equivalency: A combination of appropriate education and experience may be substituted for the minimum education and experience requirements
