Position Summary

Director of Cell Therapy Competitive Intelligence provides strategic leadership to oversee the planning and dissemination of competitive intelligence across the entire cell therapy portfolio. Develops, deploys, and manages world-class CI capabilities, in close partnership with cell therapy leadership, business partners, and the rest of the CI commercialization team. Delivers timely, relevant, strategic intelligence to cross-functional stakeholders. This role manages 4-6 FTEs, and reports to the Vice President of Commercialization Competitive Intelligence.

This position resides within the Business Insights and Analytics (BIA) organization.  BIA helps BMS navigate uncertainty with data-driven and innovative solutions, by serving as trusted and objective strategic partners for our stakeholders.  We deliver transformative value through customer voice, data, advanced analytics, and actionable intelligence. Key Responsibilities

  • Leads all elements of internal Competitive Intelligence (CI) model for BMS’ Cell Therapy franchise based on consultative engagement with key stakeholders, leading internal intelligence networks, coordinating the communication of intelligence, leading external CI vendors/partners, and leveraging relevant internal tools and platforms

  • Conducts analysis and research based on stakeholder-driven key intelligence questions while adhering to consistency and set standards across BMS

  • Identifies, gathers, synthesizes, and distills information/intelligence into key insights across the cell therapy portfolio and in partnership with cross matrix commercialization business partners

  • Advances initiatives, applies successful pilots across Cell Therapy (CT) and ensures consistency amongst strategic CI capabilities (e.g., field intelligence synthesis, congress coverage, competitive simulation workshops)

  • Translates insights into actionable recommendations for US and WW Commercial, Strategy, Medical, and in support of EA and BP initiatives

  • Responds to senior-level ad-hoc business questions with expert analysis and timely delivery

  • Assesses vendor capabilities by research type and strives to define most effective CI model to drive efficiencies, prioritization, and simplification across the CT commercialization CI team

  • Leads Cell Therapy CI team with 4-6 direct reports, balancing company portfolio prioritization with capacity while keeping individual development goals and skill sets in mind; coaches and mentors direct reports

Qualifications & Experience

  • 10+ years of experience within the pharmaceutical/biotech industry, including at least 5 years of experience in competitive, market or business intelligence function

  • Deep understanding of pharmaceutical drug development and commercialization processes; proficient in expertly deploying intelligence collection and research methodologies tailored to KITs and KIQs 

  • Experience managing high performing teams, goal setting, performance management, effective coaching and capability building.

  • Experience leading complex, multi-disciplinary projects including resource and budget allocation decisions. 

  • Ability to deliver across a range of issues with strong influence and trust. In difficult / stressful situations, consistently demonstrates resilience and encourages calm and rationale behavior of teams.

  • Ability to identify solutions and make recommendations to senior leaders, contributes to decision-making that guides the strategic direction of the function.

  • Effective at vendor management and contract/service negotiation to achieve desired outcomes
