Job Description:

  • The Analyst will participate in: (1) the IFRS 17 financial statement closing process; (2) the preparation of financial statements and internal information for management, internal stakeholders and auditors; (3) regulatory reporting; (4) internal controls, internal audit, business initiatives; and (5) perform other administrative functions.

Preferred skills (heading) / Compétences particulières (titre)

  • Experience in financial reporting and/or preparation of financial statements.
  • Knowledge in IFRS/PFRS and familiarity in financial reporting frameworks such as local statutory requirements.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Good organizational skills (planning, time management and priority management); able to timely meet internal and/or external deadlines
  • Good verbal and written communications skills plus good listening skills
  • Advanced analytical, comprehension and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in use of Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
  • Knowledge of life insurance industry, preferred but not required
  • Knowledge in SAP is an advantage

Qualifications (heading) / Compétences (titre)

  • Bachelor Degree in Accountancy
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Designation, an advantage.
  • At least 1-year experience in audit firm and/or financial reporting in any insurance company.

Responsibilities (heading) / Responsabilités (titre)

  • Financial Accounting and Reporting

  • Participate in IFRS 17 financial statement closing process, including the preparation of journal entries and ensure that these entries are posted in the subsidiary and general ledgers accurately and in accordance with the prescribed timeline.
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with Canadian International Financial Reporting Standards (CIFRS) and local reporting requirements.
  • Prepare reconciliation and provide analysis of accounts related to IFRS 17 reporting.
  • Provide financial information required by management, external auditors and various government regulatory bodies.

  • Internal Controls and Internal Audit
  • Perform control procedures in the preparation of financial and management reports before submission to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Documents the processes and procedures involving financial accounting and reporting.
  • Regular review and update of existing guidelines, processes, and procedures to effect necessary changes/improvements.
  • Participate in the preparation of audit requirements for internal auditors.

  • Support Company’s Initiatives
  • Participate in the system enhancements, process documentation / improvements, and preparation of requirements for new products and other Finance priorities.

  • Administrative Functions
  • Organize and maintain filing/monitoring of all documents submitted to IC and SEC, in hard copies (if required) and scanned copies.
  • Manages inquiry from the internal stakeholders, auditors and regulators related to the assigned tasks.
