Job Summary

The Nuclear Power Plant Simulator Software Engineering Intern supports the design, maintenance, and enhancement of full-scope simulator systems used for licensed operator training. Working under the guidance of simulator engineers and training staff, the intern will assist in modeling plant systems, implementing software updates, conducting testing, and ensuring the simulator’s fidelity matches the reference nuclear unit. The role provides hands-on experience with real-time simulation technology, nuclear plant system behavior, and engineering processes in a regulated environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with software development and model updates (C/C++/Fortran/Java).
  • Support debugging, testing, and validation of simulator performance.
  • Review engineering documents, diagrams, and system logic to improve models.
  • Help maintain configuration control and technical documentation.
  • Collaborate with simulator engineers and training staff during simulator sessions.
