About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Software Engineer – Data Engineering to join the CALM (Corporate Asset and Liability Management) Data Engineering team within the Enterprise Functions Technology (EFT) organization. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, optimizing, and maintaining metadata‑driven, scalable, high‑performance data engineering frameworks that power critical financial risk processes across Corporate Treasury.

You will work independently to build resilient data pipelines, APIs, wrappers, and supporting components to enable reliable data ingestion, transformation, validation, and delivery across cloud and on‑prem ecosystems. This position plays a key role in Data Center exit migrations, DPC onboarding, and enterprise-wide modernization initiatives.

The role requires deep technical expertise, hands‑on problem‑solving, and technical leadership in distributed data engineering, cloud platforms, data quality, and performance engineering.

In this role, you will:

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable, metadata‑driven data pipelines for large‑scale batch and streaming workloads using Python, SQL, and Apache Spark.
  • Engineer resilient ingestion, transformation, validation, and delivery frameworks across cloud and on‑prem environments.
  • Optimize distributed data processing for performance, reliability, and cost efficiency, applying Spark and lakehouse best practices.
  • Implement and manage modern lakehouse architectures using open table formats such as Iceberg, Delta, or Hudi.
  • Build robust data quality, validation, and observability frameworks with strong SLAs and automated monitoring.
  • Develop and expose secure, governed data access through RESTful and metadata‑driven APIs.
  • Lead and execute complex data initiatives including data center exit migrations, platform modernization, and onboarding programs.   
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to provide technical leadership, influence architecture decisions, and deliver high‑impact outcomes.

Required Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Desired Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of hands‑on experience in data or software engineering, delivering production‑grade data platforms.
  • Strong proficiency in Python, SQL, and Spark for building and optimizing large‑scale data pipelines.
  • Proven experience with distributed data systems, data modeling, and performance tuning in big‑data environments.
  • Experience with workflow orchestration tools (e.g., Autosys, Airflow) and CI/CD‑driven delivery.
  • Solid understanding of cloud‑native data platforms, security principles, and automation practices.
  • Ability to work independently on complex problems while providing technical mentorship and engineering leadership.

Job Expectations

  • Deliver high-quality engineering outcomes during Data Center exit migrations and DPC onboarding, ensuring validations, automation, and production readiness.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to build scalable, high‑performance data solutions using Python, SQL, Spark, Iceberg, Dremio, and Autosys.
