Charter Steel is hiring a 3PL Transportation Specialist!

This role will work closely with the Transportation Manager in all facets of the transportation industry to ensure a superior experience for all internal and external customers.  The Transportation Specialist will effectively manage the critical role between the Third Party Logistic (3PL) vendor and all other departments at Charter Steel. 

What you'll need:

• Bachelor's Degree in Business, Transportation, Logistics or Supply Chain

• 5 plus years of Transportation experience 

• 3-5 years of managing a 3PL vendor or a leadership role with a 3PL

• DOT rules and regulations experience

• Knowledgeable in all modes of Transportation:  Truckload, Less than truckload, international, railroad, etc.

• Proven Continuous Improvement and/or Six Sigma experience 

• Experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS)

• Excellent oral and written communication skills

• Strong relationship management skills

• Ability to travel 10-15% of the time

Preferred experience:

• Master's Degree in Business (MBA)

• 3-5 years of manufacturing experience

• Strong team leadership and influential leadership skills

• Experience managing a large 3PL along with dedicated capacity

What you'll do:

• Forge and strengthen Transportation's relationship with other intercompany departments and with our 3PL and dedicated management

• Work with Finance and Marketing to understand trends in cost and recovery

• Participate in and lead cross-departmental teams to accomplish various projects

• Understand and consistently improve Transportation related processes involving everything from order entry to the loading and shipment of steel

• Provide industry best in class customer service
