We are seeking an Integrated Offers Assistant Director of Strategic Initiatives to lead the evolution of The Hartford’s integrated offering strategy across Employee Benefits and Workers’ Compensation, focus areas include expansion of coordination points across the customer value chain (e.g. Risk Engineering, Claim Coordination, Stewardship) and strategic exploration for a down-market strategy (Low end Middle Market | Upper Small Business | Priority Business). This role reports to the AVP of Integrated Offers and will play a critical part in shaping our 2026 agenda, which includes opportunity sizing, value proposition design, and a test & learn strategy to validate new ideas and approaches.
This is a high-impact role for someone who thrives in ambiguity, is energized by solving complex business problems, and can build strong relationships in a matrixed environment. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with a bias toward action, with strong communication and program management skills.
Responsibilities:
Lead the development and execution of integrated offering strategies across Business Insurance and Employee Benefits
Research market needs, customer pain points for smaller sized businesses (Low end Middle Market | Upper Small Business | Priority Business)
Develop value propositions and offerings tailored to the needs of target customer segments, including new coordination points across offerings
Identify alternative distribution channel strategies and assess their viability
Size market opportunities and own the development of business cases
Design and implementation of test & learn goals and plans
Drive cross-functional collaboration to test and learn new business concepts and solutions to inform a comprehensive go-to-market strategy (including distribution, pricing, branding, and marketing)
Build and maintain strong relationships across product, underwriting, sales, marketing, and analytics teams
Influence stakeholders and navigate organizational complexity to move initiatives forward
Support business development efforts with insights, materials, and coordination
Roll up your sleeves to solve problems, remove roadblocks, and ensure progress
Translate strategic goals into actionable workstreams and deliverables
Monitor progress, identify risks, and adjust plans to ensure business impact
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree preferred
3+ years of experience in product development, strategy execution, operations/process improvement, or Agile roles
Experience in the insurance industry preferred
Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills; ability to connect dots and simplify complexity
Proven ability to build relationships and influence across functions and levels
Comfortable working in ambiguous environments and driving clarity
Excellent communication skills—able to tailor messages to different audiences
Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple priorities
Collaborative mindset with a willingness to learn and adapt
Experience with research, customer insights, and business case development
Familiarity with change management frameworks (e.g., ADKAR) and digital tools (e.g., MS Teams, Excel, PowerPoint)
Additional Information:
This role will have a Hybrid work schedule, with the expectation of working in an office (Hartford, CT Home Office) 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
