Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Principal Electromechanical Engineer/ Sr. Principal Electromechanical Engineer with experience in subsystems design to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Vehicle Engineering Organization. These positions are located in Melbourne, FL.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and develop wiring harness/cable assembly installations into air vehicles for multiple aerospace programs using SAE AS 50881 and proven commercial practices as a guide.
Working independently under general supervision and as part of a large multi-disciplined team.
Collaborate with inter-departmental vehicle sub-system departments including aircraft structure, equipment installation, hydraulics, environmental control systems, and manufacturing teams.
Facilitating design reviews with key stakeholders to ensure designs meet requirements.
Attending internal program, customer and/or supplier technical exchange meetings and/or formal program milestone reviews to provide and/or obtain progress status updates.

Position may be filled as either a Principal Electromechanical Engineer/ Sr. Principal Electromechanical Engineer depending on the qualifications below.
Basic Qualifications:
The basic qualifications of the Principal Engineer Aeronautical are a Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline AND 5 years of engineering experience, OR Master’s degree AND 3 years of engineering experience.
The basic qualifications of the Sr. Principal Engineer Aeronautical are a Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline AND 8 years of engineering experience, OR Master’s degree AND 6 years of engineering experience.
Active DoD Secret or higher clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Special Access Program (SAP) clearance
Experience with wire harness design and routing principles such as EMI separation, military connectors and backshells, shielding and overbraid, splicing, minimum bend radius, chafe protection, electrical bonding, and grounding.
Experience in a 3D design tool such as NX, Catia V5, or ProE
Preferred Qualifications:
Current/active Special Program Access (PAR/SAP) or Top Secret clearance.
