The New Homes Field Operations Director is responsible for managing all aspects of how Sunrun delivers for builders and customers in the field. This leader will create a robust program to manage installation partners - almost exclusively builder roofers who also install solar - including negotiating pricing, developing an onboarding program, ensuring bulk material delivery programs are developed and and executed well, accuracy in payments, quality of installs, timelines of reporting of activity in the field, and overall execution against the builders construction schedule. In addition to developing the program to support installation partners, this leader will serve as the single point of contact for all work happening in the field. They will lead the Field Managers who are the “boots on the ground” for all communities, as well as coordinate seamlessly with the Sunrun installation branches to ensure collaboration and clear direction on all Sunrun Managed installations. This position reports to the Vice President, New Homes Operations.
Responsibilities
Develop all elements of the NH Build Partners Operations Program, ensuring builder roofers are set up to successfully deliver for our collective builder customers
Partner with SRM install crews to ensure SRM installs are performed on time and with the right quality, and that the SRM leadership team has the forecasting details they need to ensure they are fully staffed to meet our business needs
Lead Sunrun Field managers to adopt process, tools, and systems that support the overall growth and development of the Sunrun New Homes business
Collaborate extensively with the New Homes Inside Operations team to ensure upstream and downstream processes are optimized to deliver for builders and their homeowners.
Working cross-functionally to achieve business goals and objectives
Hire, train, motivate, coach and performance manage individuals to drive a highly engaged team
Manage timely work distribution to both roofer partners and internal SRM install crews so as to keep pace with builder expectations
Measures and holds the team and external parties accountable against specific, challenging attainable performance goals and celebrates achievement of departmental and individual metrics
Handle escalated customer issues in a timely manner
Ensure quality work by the field managers, SRM installers, and install partners, meets Sunrun’s exacting standards
Partners with leadership team to align departmental goals, policies and systems with the company’s objectives
Develops and manages team efficiencies, performance standards and expectations
Identifies and solves recurring issues, inefficiencies, training opportunities and process gaps
Provides feedback to other department leaders regarding up front processes that are creating downstream customer issues
Meets departmental financial objectives, P&L forecasting and analysis, and budget creation and management. Identifies cost opportunities and consistently evaluate internal vs. outsource opportunities for work distribution
Develops policies and processes necessary to get things done; knows how to organize people and activities; understands how to separate and combine tasks into efficient work flow
Successfully manages effectiveness of SOX controls
Develops operating plans to achieve continuous improvement in business outcomes including scale and experience improvements
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree is required and an advanced degree is preferred
Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership positions, at least 3 of which must be in New Homes Solar Operations
Demonstrated results in driving customer experience and project improvements across the team and organization – requires managing the process from ideation through implementation and measurement of results
Strong understanding of financial planning and analysis and budget management required
Direct experience with driving successful cross-functional performance and collaboration with branch/field operations and other internal teams
Leadership experience managing a scale size team of at least 40 employees
Must thrive in a fast paced and uncertain business environment due to an industry that continues to grow and evolve
Direct experience driving technology advancements for the team to drive scale and automation into the organization
High level of confidence, desire to succeed and assertiveness or business acumen
Proven ability to help identify emerging trends from company, market, and industry data and assist in making clear and compelling recommendations
A roll-up-the-sleeves approach; someone who is able to think quickly and creatively and is results-driven complemented by appropriate process orientation
Proven success in fostering a collaborative, positive and open communication environment for all team members
Proven experience managing workforce staffing level to ensure the size is adequate to achieve KPI’s outlined
Demonstrated success in building best in class field organization and driving continuous improvements toward the end state vision
Proficiency in building, communicating and executing on goals and initiatives that can draw a direct line of site to the impact on the overall company goals and objectives
Proven focus on achieving business results while balancing employee engagement and retention of talent
Demonstrated ability to recruit, develop, motivate and mentor a high performing team
Excellent work ethic, leadership skills, interpersonal, communication and organization skills
Superior written and oral communication skills, with the ability to persuasively present and communicate
Intermediate to advanced PC proficiency, including the Google Platform (Doc, Sheet, Slide) and MS Office Excel

Starting salary/wage for this opportunity:
$129,511.46 to $172,681.95Other rewards may include annual bonus eligibility, which is based on company and individual performance, short and long term incentives, and program-specific awards. Sunrun provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).
