Overview of the Department/Section

MUS(EU) is the European capital markets subsidiary of MUFG Securities EMEA plc which is the international capital markets subsidiary of Mitsubishi UFJ Securities Holdings Co. Ltd. (“MUSHD”). MUSHD’s and MUS(EMEA)’s ultimate holding company is Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, Inc. (“MUFG”)

MUS(EU) provides client solutions across primary and secondary markets and actively trades in fixed income products. The client group includes European financial institutions, large corporations and central banks. The Company primarily supports this client group from its base in Amsterdam and additionally operates a branch in Paris.

This role is located in the Paris branch within the Loan & Bond Origination, EMEA Capital Markets team.

Main Purpose and Accountability of the Position

  • Work alongside Originators across all aspects of the syndicated loan origination and execution process, including initial structuring, pitch preparation, market analysis, due diligence, credit approval support, documentation review, and deal closing activities
  • Provide support to senior team members to help develop and maintain a sustainable, client‑focused primary Capital Markets business for MUFG in the EMEA region

Key Responsibilities

1) Marketing & Research

  • Take the lead on the production of high-quality tailor-made client presentations and pitch-books;
  • Produce market research on pricing, deal structures, comparable, and investor activity as required;
  • Maintain periodic updates on internal reporting including underwriting, pipeline reports, and pricing database, among others, as required;
  • Take an active role in joint “pitching” effort with Originators, Relationship Managers, and/or other product lines including the broader Capital Markets Group;
  • Build a knowledge of the product and the Loan Syndication market through the shadowing of more senior team members and their activities;
  • Establish a good understanding of the role of Capital Markets within the wider GCIB franchise and be able to understand the key similarities / differences between loans and bonds from both MUFG and the client’s perspective

2) Transaction Management

  • Support the relevant Loan Origination function throughout the different stages from initial transaction analysis to final documentation and execution, including but not limited to preparing underwriting applications, pricing, deal screening support memos, and arranging material for pricing meetings;
  • Focus on internal/external management of the transaction in coordination with the Originator, Syndicate, and Sales teams with emphasis on preparation of offers, client presentations and management of documentation process when MUFG is appointed Documentation Bank or Coordinator;
  • Develop a working relationship with the Relationship Management teams assisting in the identification of target clients and markets and the preparation of client briefing notes, pitch books and client offers;
  • Build relationships throughout MUFG, including with the broader Capital Markets’ team, to establish a peer network, gather relevant information, and help to ensure effective inter-departmental collaboration.

Work Experience, Skills & Personal Requirements

1) Required Experience

  • Education (top business school / university) / finance degree
  • Minimum 6 months of professional experience in Loan Origination / Syndication (or similar) 

2) Technical & Analytical Skills

  • Strong understanding of the loan origination process and basic credit principles
  • Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint and Word, and other financial systems
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy

3) Communication & Coordination

  • Clear verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to coordinate with clients and internal teams effectively
  • Strong organisational and time‑management abilities
  • Fluency in English is a must and in addition other European languages are preferred

4) Personal Requirements

  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
  • Analytical mindset with a problem-solving attitude
