We are hiring a Sr. Director, Rental Sales and Service!

The Dewatering Rental Services & Sales Leader is responsible for driving profitable growth across the dewatering rental and services portfolio in North America. This role oversees sales strategy, operational execution, customer engagement, and team leadership for a high-performance rental services organization. The leader will focus on expanding market share, optimizing fleet utilization, strengthening customer relationships, and ensuring exceptional service delivery within construction, industrial, municipal, and environmental segments.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and execute a multi‑year strategy to grow the dewatering rental and services business, aligned with company goals.
  • Identify market trends, competitor activity, and emerging opportunities to shape sales and operational priorities.
  • Own forecasting, revenue planning, and margin improvement initiatives.

Sales & Business Development

  • Lead and mentor a team of sales professionals to achieve aggressive rental revenue, utilization, and profitability targets.
  • Oversee strategic account management and support complex bids, proposals, and negotiations.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers in construction, mining, municipal, and industrial markets.
  • Drive cross selling of pumps, treatment, monitoring, and related service offerings.

Operational Excellence

  • Partner with operations leaders to optimize fleet deployment, asset rotation, maintenance planning, and logistics efficiency.
  • Ensure consistent adherence to safety, quality, and regulatory standards across all rental operations.
  • Monitor key operational KPIs (utilization, uptime, turnaround time, ROI on fleet).

Customer Experience & Service Delivery

  • Champion a customer centric culture that prioritizes responsive service, technical expertise, and reliable execution.
  • Resolve escalated customer issues and lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service performance.
  • Ensure the team delivers accurate job assessments, site planning, and solution engineering for complex dewatering needs.

Team Leadership & Talent Development

  • Recruit, develop, and motivate a high performing team of sales and service professionals.
  • Provide coaching, workforce planning, succession planning, and performance management.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and collaboration.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field; MBA preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in rental services, industrial equipment, fluid handling, or dewatering solutions.
  • Demonstrated success leading sales teams and driving business growth.
  • Experience with P&L ownership, budgeting, and strategic planning.

Technical & Professional Skills

  • Strong knowledge of rental business models, dewatering systems, pumping solutions, and temporary water management applications.
  • Proven leadership with the ability to influence cross functional partners.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship building skills.
  • Data driven decision maker with strong analytical and commercial acumen.
  • Ability to travel within the region (up to 40–60%).

Salary:

The estimated salary range for this position is $200K to $230K plus bonus. Starting pay is dependent on multiple factors, such as skills, experience and work location, and is not typically at the top of the range.  At Xylem we offer competitive compensation with a generous benefit package, including Medical, Dental, and Vision plans, as well as 401(k) with company contribution, paid time off, paid parental leave, and tuition reimbursement.
