As Director of Network Services, your primary responsibility will be to lead a diverse global team responsible for the 24x7 Network Support & Operations tier 1, 2 & 3. You will work closely with the teams from Network Engineering, NOC and other cross-functional teams who are managing systems and applications, to drive efficiency and improvements in supporting/managing the business.
Essential Responsibilities
- Responsible for Operating Ameriprise Financial Global Network Operations. (This includes LAN’s, WAN’s, Wireless, ISP management, and all components required to provide networking capabilities)
- Lead crisis/incident event management incidents as needed
- Serves as the business owner of all enterprise Networks Connectivity & Network Security Services
- Provide leadership to manage demands from projects and technology upgrades including recommendations for vendor tools/solutions and global alignment of networks.
- Manage oversight of complex network operations processes based on a combination of vendors, custom solutions, and internal resources.
- Support adoption of new technologies and tools, recommend capability improvements to network engineering, and assist in lab/ QA deployments for technology trials.
- Responsible for accurate assessment management of all network devices in CMDB
- Responsible for upgrade, patches as required and meet all security & compliance requirements
- Ensure service level targets are met, and address all service-level complaints.
- Participate in disaster recovery/business continuity activities, as needed.
- Establish standards and governance in future acquisitions to mitigate risk and maximize network stability.
- Maintenance and support of data center operations, LAN/WAN architecture, server and network hardware, software, and applications
- Provides technical expertise and guidance, networking and operating system expertise, project management, and serve as an escalation resource for all technical needs
- Monitor, assess, and report on network and server bandwidth and resource utilization, Manage the software lifecycle.
- Coordinate and execute upon approved adjustments and changes that increase performance and availability
- Provide ongoing review of capacity requirements in order to align with budget planning
- Provide network design, security analysis/design and implementation, definition and coordination of standards, project management, and technology research
- Provide up-to-date system and network documentation and inventories
- Manage all related vendor support contracts for hardware, software, connectivity, etc
- Responsible for participating in Audits and provide information related to Network specific - diagrams, configurations, processes and procedures
- Responsible for remediation for any vulnerabilities related to audits
- Provide subject matter expertise in interactions with partners and customers, program manage collaboration projects externally and internally
- Mentor technical staff and drive programs to improve effectiveness and efficiency
- Mentor, manage and motivate a high-performing team of senior professionals and set clear priorities to achieve department goals and KPIs.
Qualification:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field; or equivalent work experience
- Minimum of 15+ years of Network work experience in Operations and / or Engineering
- Leadership experience in recommending, implementing, maintaining, state of the art network hardware and software systems.
- Network & Infrastructure experience specific to large size organizations (1000 employees minimum)
- Ability to be flexible, decision oriented, and motivated to support management initiatives
- Demonstrate a consultative approach to strategic decisions with a particular emphasis on delivery
- A proven track record in managing vendor relationships
Preferred Qualifications
- Current or held advanced network technical certification (e.g., CCIE/CCNP, JNCIE/JNCIS, or relevant industry certification etc.
- Experience or background with automation using Terraform, Ansible and/or Python would be desired.
- Proven track record of driving change and transformation in network engineering processes, tools and technologies through metrics driven, KPI based methodologies, and an evidence based operational improvement and decision making approach to best meet business objectives and priorities.
- Prior experience in a dedicated role around defining network engineering strategic planning.
- Prior experience in multi-vendor networking technologies.
- Hands-on experience in deploying large scale network technologies.
