ABOUT THE ROLE
The HR Generalist is a critical, hands-on role responsible for owning and executing the day-to-day
HR operations at DebtBook. This role is ideal for a highly experienced, adaptable HR professional
who thrives in lean environments, can operate with minimal oversight, and is comfortable flexing
across the full spectrum of HR. As a key member of our small People team, this person will help
stabilize, scale, and mature HR operations, ensuring a seamless employee experience.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
● Own and manage day-to-day HR operations across the employee lifecycle, including
onboarding, offboarding, employee data changes, compliance, and HR systems
administration.
● Serve as a hands-on owner of HRIS and people systems, ensuring data accuracy, clean
processes, and continuous improvement.
● Lead or support transitions between PEOs, HRIS platforms, or other people systems,
including planning, execution, and change management.
● Support or own benefits administration, including enrollments, employee questions, vendor
relationships, and annual renewals.
● Partner closely with payroll providers and Finance; support payroll processes and audits,
with the ability to step in hands-on if needed.
● Ensure HR compliance across federal, state, and local requirements; support audits, policy
updates, and documentation.
● Continuously assess HR processes, identify gaps, create efficiencies with AI and self-service,
and implement practical improvements suited for a growing startup environment.
Employee Relations & Manager Support:
● Serve as a first point of contact for employee questions and concerns, providing thoughtful,
compliant, and empathetic guidance.
● Support employee relations matters, performance conversations, investigations, and
documentation in partnership with the Sr. HRBP.
● Help administer and reinforce performance management processes and HR initiatives.
Cross-Functional Partnership & Prioritization:
● Effectively prioritize competing demands, knowing when to execute quickly, when to
escalate, and when to pivot based on business needs.
● Partner cross-functionally with all departments to ensure smooth people operations.
● Bring a practical, business-minded approach to HR that balances employee experience with
operational realities.

WHAT YOU BRING
● 5–8+ years of progressive HR experience across multiple facets of HR, with a strong
emphasis on HR operations.
● Demonstrated experience working in small teams or startup environments with limited
resources and high autonomy.
● Deep hands-on experience with HRIS platforms, benefits administration, and HR operations;
experience transitioning PEOs or HR systems strongly preferred.
● Working knowledge of payroll processes and strong comfort partnering with payroll
providers.
● Solid understanding of HR compliance and employee relations best practices.
● Strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability to establish trust and credibility with team
members across the organization.
● Proven ability to manage day-to-day operations independently while staying organized,
calm, and effective.
● Strong judgment and prioritization skills, with the ability to pivot quickly as business needs
change.
● Clear, confident communicator with a practical, solutions-oriented mindset.
