Our Infrastructure & Renewable Resources (I&RR) team is continuing to expand and seeking a Principal (or Senior Principal) level candidate to join their team in beautiful Victoria, BC. The successful candidate would be responsible for making meaningful contributions to asset management activities within BCI’s global portfolio of infrastructure investments, focusing on protecting, growing, and realizing the value of the portfolio, while also contributing to the deployment of capital in new acquisitions. This is an exciting opportunity to join one of Canada’s largest institutional investors focusing on infrastructure globally, within a collaborative and supportive team.

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

On behalf of BCI’s clients, the Infrastructure & Renewable Resources (I&RR) team invests globally in infrastructure assets and businesses that provide stable long-term investment returns. BCI’s I&RR portfolio has $28+ billion in AUM and ranks as the ninth largest institutional infrastructure investor globally. The portfolio spans a range of sectors including energy, transportation, utilities, and data infrastructure as well as renewable resources such as timberland and agriculture.

I&RR seeks meaningful investments predominantly in private companies that allow us to pursue an active governance approach. The team invests as a sole sponsor, co-sponsor, and very selectively through externally managed funds. In addition, I&RR takes positions in listed infrastructure businesses as well as debt investments as a complementary strategy to private markets investments.

THE OPPORTUNITY

The successful candidate will drive asset management activities, playing a key role in protecting, growing, and realizing the value of the portfolio by a) actively engaging with co-investors and management teams on tactical and strategic matters in individual companies, b) building and leading processes to ensure sustained progress across the entire portfolio, and c) developing perspectives and knowledge as they relate to our investments. The Principal or Senior Principal will also lead due diligence workstreams and otherwise support the pursuit of prospective investments as required depending on availability and experience/expertise.

They also develop rigorous and independent insights into the ongoing performance of BCI’s large direct investments. These insights would be advanced toward action through an ability to build highly collaborative relationships and exert positive influence with a range of stakeholders including deal team leaders, portfolio company executives and Board members. Above all else, the Principal or Senior Principal brings a long-term value investing mindset with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
