Job Description

Program Overview  

The Comcast Cooperative Educational Program (Co-op) immerses students into the daily operations of a contemporary media and technology company while working side-by-side with Comcast’s top innovators. Designed for students whose curriculum allows for a cooperative learning track, the co-op becomes an integral part of the Comcast team working on creative, innovative, and thought-provoking projects within various business units. Throughout the experience, there is opportunity for exposure to mentorship and professional development while having some fun along the way. 

 

Role Overview  

Primary role will be supporting several internal teams in the coordination and implementation of engineering requests for capacity augments and network upgrades in support of Comcast’s objectives for the Backbone Network. This engineer will be responsible for the design, configuration, activation, and operational support of Comcast’s Backbone Edge networks. This Engineer will also act as a Liaison between various entities and Customers to offer unique technical solutions as needed. Complies with industry and Company technical requirements, standards, policies, and procedures. 

 

Co-op responsibilities include but are not limited to:  

  • Works with moderate guidance in own area of knowledge.  

  • Determines resources, technology and course of action to achieve results  

  • Works with project management to deliver capacity/solutions that meet or exceed requirements and schedules.  

  • Manage circuits from order entry through test and turn up.  

  • Create Comcast Network Maintenance tickets associated with Service Affecting (SA) and Non-Service Affecting (NSA) activity and accurately identify all affected circuits or network elements.  

  • Make big things happen by working together and being open to new ideas  

  • Emphasis on communication and soft skills is required 

  • Determines and documents internal telecommunications systems.  

  • Designs and configures telecommunications systems.  

 

Preferred Qualifications  

  • Experience with Cisco/Juniper routers is a plus 

  • Experience in Network engineering is a plus 

  • Preferred Majors: Computer Science, Computer engineering, Computing Technology  

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree from Drexel University, with a cooperative learning track. 

  • Available to work 40 hours per week for 6 months starting September 23, 2024, through March 28, 2025. 

  • Available to report in-person to the work location provided above. 

  • 3.0 minimum cumulative GPA preferred. 

  • Authorized to work in the United States of America.

Compensation

Base Pay: $32.00
