The Opportunity: 

AIA are currently hiring a Senior Manager – Risk to join their Group Insurance department in either Melbourne or Sydney. Within this role you will act as a first line risk representative and work closely with Group Product, Pricing, Distribution, and Administration teams, as well as Enterprise Risk & Compliance (Line 2 Risk), to embed a proactive and effective risk culture.

To do this successfully you will: 

  • Develop and deliver the Risk & Compliance Plan for the Group Insurance Office

  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders across the business

  • Own and manage risks within the Business Unit, including control design, implementation, and testing

  • Monitor risk profiles, escalate issues, and support root cause analysis and remediation

  • Provide risk insights and reporting to leadership, Board, and committees

  • Support change initiatives by identifying and mitigating associated risks

  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulatory requirements

  • Drive continuous improvement and lean thinking across risk practices

  • Contribute to third-party risk management through vendor audits

Successful applications will demonstrate: 

  • Previous experience within a management role in either Line 1 or Line 2 Risk within Life insurance

  • High stakeholder satisfaction and strong internal relationships

  • Effective management of issues, incidents, and remediations

  • The ability to provide timely and insightful risk reporting

  • Experience delivering measurable contributions to financial outcomes, including cost management and productivity

  • Exceptional leadership ability, in particular within fostering a strong risk culture
