Position Summary...

Drives the execution of multiple business plans and projects by identifying customer and operational needs; developing and communicating business plans and priorities; removing barriers and obstacles that impact performance; providing resources; identifying performance standards; measuring progress and adjusting performance accordingly; developing contingency plans; and demonstrating adaptability and supporting continuous learning. About Team:

As part of the Replenishment & Forecasting team @Walmart, you’ll have the opportunity to work with some of the smartest engineers/architects/data scientist and will have the opportunity to solve one of the most critical problems for Walmart

We are looking for passionate Data Engineers to join our team & help us in building our next generation Replenishment & Forecasting Platform for Walmart. We drive $200B+ inventory replenishments annually. Improved forecast will help drive down the inventory days of supply and reduce waste for perishable grocery – savings measured in billions of dollars – while improving our in stocks. Effectively predicting demand involves learning from past sales and modelling the effects price, promotions, store placements, local events, weather etc. Replenishment ensures we have the effective distribution of the demand to the final destinations (Stores, DCs, etc.)

Doing this a Walmart scale – over 500 M store item combinations - makes it one of the largest and most challenging problems of its kind in the world while also being the most impactful. Talk to us if you are interested in taking up the challenge. 

What you'll do:

Lead & mentor dynamic engineering teams to achieve results Constant focus on velocity, continuous improvement, engineering, and operational excellence Interact with other Walmart engineering teams across geographies to leverage expertise and contribute to the tech community. Cross-collaborate with inter-disciplinary product and engineering teams to solve some of the unique challenges in multi-channel shopping experience. Guide technical roadmaps for the team and help transition our platform to micro services architecture using next-gen technologies. Contribute to system modernization by migrating legacy apps without creating a blip on the customer’s radar Work with other technical leaders to ensure our coding and development processes are scaling and evolving with modern development practices Measuring and improving performance and making the systems more robust Help teams troubleshoot and find ways to move faster and raise the quality bar.

What you'll bring:

B.E/B.Tech with 14-15 yrs. of experience in software development Solid hands-on experience in development and growing, leading teams Experience with Big Data Systems like Hadoop, Spark Large scale distributed systems experience, including scalability, High Availability and fault tolerance Complete understanding of development and deployment systems, production architectures Exposure to cloud infrastructure, such as Open Stack, Azure, GCP, or AWS A continuous drive to explore, improve, enhance, automate, and optimize systems and tools. Well versed with Core Java and J2EE features with solid understanding of various Design Patterns at scale Hands on experience SQL or No SQL technologies Experience in handling complex production issues Tools for measuring metrics and performance Strong passion for developing elegant and well-designed frameworks.
