SUMMARY
The Rail Field Operations Supervisor with minimal supervision is responsible for ensuring safe and efficient rail operations by proactively supervising and training train operators. Duties include instructing rail operators on policies and procedures, conducting trip evaluations, administering corrective action as needed, completing employee safety compliance checks, operator proficiency ride checks, mentoring and motivating employees to meet or exceed Rail Division standards. Rail Field Operations Supervisor will monitor vehicle operations to include on-time performance, will conduct operator fitness for duty checks, and will investigate, Light Rail Vehicle (LRV), passenger and employee accidents/incidents. Must be able to communicate in a clear and concise manner and be able to complete detailed written accident and incident reports. Rail Field Operations Supervisor is responsible for monitoring and reporting any potential safety or customer service issue at all appropriate rail facilities, including but not limited to, signals, railways, station platforms, structures, and equipment. Independent judgment is required in solving problems related to the safe and efficient operations and during potential emergencies on the mainline and at station platforms. Rail Field Operations Supervisor will be called upon to operate light rail vehicles and to provide support in other areas of Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) during emergencies and special events. This position reports to the Rail Transportation Manager Operations Division.

The checks must be consistent with the guidelines set forth by these laws requiring organizations to obtain a candidate’s written authorization before obtaining a criminal background report, motor vehicle records check or credit report; and to properly store and dispose of information derived from such reports.
Final candidates must pass a pre-employment drug-screening test and physical examination. During the selection process, candidates may be asked to take a skills test, and/or participate in other assessments.
