Non-Certified CS/SPD Technician

As a Non-Certified CS/SPD Technician, you will play a key role in how our operating rooms care for our patients as a whole team relies on you to successfully set up the operating room. Non-Certified CS/SPD Technicians receive ample support, training and education, including learning how to operate the latest, state-of-the-art processing equipment and using the newest sterilization tools and concepts  
 

A caregiver in this position works 3:00pm 11:30pm. 


A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Provide safe, efficient practices for decontamination, instrument assembly, wrapping and sterilization of all reprocessed instruments and distribution equipment 

  • Provide case cart management.  

  • Understand proper handling of equipment, instrumentation and chemicals. 

  • Perform preventative maintenance. 

  • Observe personal protective equipment standards in the decontamination process.  

  • Scan, sort, inspect and assemble instruments by instrument list and wrap and label as documented in the procedure.  

  • Perform recordkeeping.  


Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • High school diploma or GED.  

  • Will obtain a sterile processing distribution certification (CRST) by IAHCSMM or CBSPD within 2 years following the completion of the new hire period.   


Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: 

  • One year of healthcare experience or a similar background in mechanical/manufacturing assembly.  

  • Military experience as a Hospital Corpsmen (HM), Machinery Repairman (MR), Aircraft Maintenance Technician (2A3X3), Biomedical Equipment Specialist (68A), Small Arms Repairer (91F) or similar will be considered.

Physical Requirements:

  • Lifts and carries items weighing up to 25 pounds and ability to push, pull and navigate supply carts weighing >than 75 pounds.

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
