Engineering Team Manager - Marketing Automations

Squarespace is looking for an Engineering Team Manager Marketing Automations to establish the Dublin presence of our Marketing Tools group. The Marketing Tools group helps Squarespace customers grow, connect, and engage with their audiences. We provide easy-to-use, powerful-yet-simple tools to curate and segment their users and deliver them relevant, contextual messages. We know they aren’t marketing experts, so we make it as easy as possible through intelligent defaults, beautiful templates, and targeted guidance for them to communicate effectively and grow their businesses.

The Marketing Automations team is focused on enhancing our trigger-based email offerings, making it even easier to get the right message in front of the right person at the right time.

This is a full-time, hybrid role working from our Dublin office, reporting to the NYC-based Engineering Manager.

You'll Get To…

  • Build the team: Learn the intended scope of the team and help hire the right balance of competencies and seniority to achieve its goals.
  • Foster the people: Assume an active role in the career development of direct reports through regular 1:1s and direct, actionable feedback.
  • Carry the culture: Create a positive team dynamic, recognizing and celebrating achievements and keeping the team motivated.
  • Grease the wheels: Establish healthy team processes and continuously seek ways to improve developer efficiency and the product delivery pipeline.
  • Set the standard: Advocate for disciplined software engineering (e.g. automated testing, code reviews, and writing beautiful, readable code, documentation, and RFCs).
  • Learn the tech: Gain and maintain a deep understanding of the systems your team is responsible for and advocate for smart, future-focused architectural choices.
  • Chart the future: Work with team members in Design, Product and Engineering to plan, champion, and implement an impactful product roadmap.
  • Work together: Collaborate across departments with representatives from Product, Design, QA, Data, and Customer Operations.

Who We're Looking For

  • 5+ years of industry experience shipping web applications across large codebases with many contributors
  • 2+ years of experience managing a Product engineering team of four or more engineers
  • Ability to break down technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders through documents and presentations. 
  • Strong technical foundations to navigate the inherent tradeoffs in product engineering decisions
  • A manager who prioritizes an inclusive culture of psychological safety and technical rigor
