JOB SUMMARY

We seek a founding Student Success Navigator to join the Marymount community to develop a new summer bridge program. This new program will incorporate best practices in the field and will be located in the Student Academic Hub, which aspires to be the place that cultivates Marymount students’ intellectual curiosity and confidence as they explore and develop the skills to learn with purpose. The Student Success Navigator will work collaboratively with the Director of Learning Resources, other Student Academic Hub professional staff and student leaders, the Admissions office, the Summer Bridge Program committee, and other departments on campus. The Student Success Navigator will coordinate activities across divisions and departments to provide synchronized and high-quality academic support services to students geared toward improving retention. The position reports to the Director of Learning Resources.

This position is grant-funded for a 5-year time period with continuation beyond 5 years anticipated, based on funding.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plans, designs, evaluates, modifies, and coordinates all logistics of the summer bridge program
  • May teach Seminar 101 for summer bridge
  • May teach Seminar 101 and/or Seminar 102 for students on Academic Warning/Probation during fall and spring semesters
  • Develops academic coaching program, to include assistance with time management, learning strategies, and metacognitive skills
  • Develops online coaching presence, to include resources, workshops
  • Provides academic coaching and oversees Graduate Assistants who coach
  • Works with Student Academic Hub staff on intentional interventions for students based on predictive analytics
  • Uses Starfish retention tool to identify students at risk and responds accordingly
  • Coordinates initiatives in collaboration with Director of Learning Resources, other divisions, and departments
  • Coordinates daily learning resource activities to ensure a smooth flow of operations
  • Assists with hiring, training, and supervision of student coaches
  • Evaluates student staff performance
  • Collaborates with campus community members to develop appropriate programs in the support of student learning for particular student populations
  • Maintains an understanding of current ideas, research, and practices pertaining to the areas of responsibility through participating in professional conferences and other self-directed professional development activities

OTHER DUTIES AND ASSIGNMENTS

  • Meets individually with student learners.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education: Master’s degree (MA, MS, MBA, etc.)

Experience: At least 1-2 years of related experience, including summer bridge, student success programs, learning assistance, teaching, higher education administration, presentation     

Special Knowledge: Understanding of and experience working in higher education; Microsoft Office Suite: particularly Word, PowerPoint, and Excel; Online video conferencing programs such Zoom and WebEx; Familiarity with retention tools (e.g., Starfish); Willingness to embrace new technology; Familiarity with online tools and services such as Survey Monkey, Doodle, WordPress (or other active engagement with writing and/or publishing).
