We are looking for a Principal Developer Advocate who can educate, support, and inspire developers to build cloud native and distributed applications. You are a software engineer and architect who is passionate about cloud-native apps and databases. You are a builder who is eager to experiment with various technologies to share insights and best practices with others. You are a mentor who educates and supports developers along their development journeys. And you are the voice of developers who helps the broader Yugabyte team build products and services developers will fall in love with.

Responsibilities:

  • Build demos and create content for cloud native applications using Postgres and YugabyteDB
  • Present at conferences, events, and podcasts
  • Build relationships with the PostgreSQL, YugabyteDB and other developers communities
  • Take part in building real-world demos for conferences and tradeshows
  • Support application developers by answering their questions on open source channels (Slack, StackOverflow, Reddit, etc.)
  • Champion PostgreSQL and YugabyteDB on social media and online platforms (e.g., Twitter, LinkedIn, Hacker News, DZone.)

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of software development experience in Java, C#, JavaScript or other major programming languages
  • 2+ years of experience with cloud environments
  • 3+ years of experience working as a Developer Advocate
  • Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases
  • Communication skills, including experience speaking to developers and architects
  • Native English speaker or advanced English proficiency level
  • Willingness and ability to travel approximately 20% of the time

We feel strongly about equal pay for equal work, and transparency in compensation is one way to help achieve that. The cash compensation for this role is market competitive, with a range of $180,000-$240,000, as well as equity (when applicable), and benefits including health plans, retirement plans, and unlimited paid time off (PTO). Some roles also include variable/incentive compensation, or a competitive On Target Earnings (OTE) incentive compensation structure. The pay range for this position is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. The actual pay will vary based on factors including experience, qualifications, and skill level.
