The Director, Global Respiratory Communications, Product and Pipeline, CGA will focus on strategic communications efforts for key assets within GSK’s respiratory and immunology pipeline and portfolio. The candidate will be responsible for leading the strategic planning, management and flawless execution of regulatory milestone and scientific communications in alignment with business priorities. You will work in partnership across CGA to deliver effective and impactful communications/campaigns that underscore our ambition for patients and how we’re getting ahead of respiratory diseases together.

Accountability: Relationships, Networks and Core Stakeholders:

  • Commercial and R&D asset team (MCTs/MDTs).
  • Regional CGA networks and LOCs (corporate & with responsibility for the products).
  • Investor Relations, Corporate Media Relations and Digital Communication teams.
  • Government Affairs, Patient Advocacy and Market Access teams.
  • Legal, regulatory, and medical stakeholders.
  • Patient engagement team

The Director of Global Respiratory Communications will also be the central point of contact for all key strategic communication to further position GSK as a leader in respiratory. The candidate in this role will continue to build upon the strong foundation of GSK’s legacy in respiratory with over five decades at the forefront of the most complex respiratory health challenges, advancing an unrivalled portfolio of innovative vaccines, targeted biologics, inhaled medicines and pipeline programmes.

In this role you will:

  • Demonstrate entrepreneurial skills to navigate the organization and seek internal and external opportunities for key assets, ensuring the effective communication of our innovation story.
  • Lead the development and implementation of strategic, integrated communications plans, which are aligned to our business priorities and the overall GSK narrative 
  • Act as a central point of accountability related to our priority respiratory assets
  • Develop a suite of communications materials for key assets that continue to strengthen and advance the story of our innovation, use of technology and our focus on patients.   
  • Work closely across R&D with leaders across the portfolio to develop the narrative that clearly articulates the strategic importance of the pipeline assets

Key responsibilities:

  • Support for the key R&D and GPS teams across Respiratory and Immunology research units
  • Demonstrate full understanding of the GSK strategy and translate that into fully aligned plans that support the GSK narrative
  • Develop and maintain best practices for the Global Product and Pipeline communications teams
  • Prepare key spokespeople (talking points, Q&A, etc.) to tell the GSK innovation story to external audiences
  • Help to manage news flow externally (and internally) to ensure ‘share of voice’, maintain consistency and quality, maximize impact, and reduce ‘noise’ (as needed)

Basic Qualifications:

  • Education – Bachelor’s degree,
  • Minimum of 10 years of communications experience, with a minimum of
  • Minimum of 4 years of recent experience working in pharmaceuticals, product or R&D pipeline communications & / or healthcare communications (in-house or agency)

  • Master’s preferred
  • Ability to translate complex information into compelling stories and adapt for appropriate audiences
  • Strong, dynamic and resilient communicator, drives change and explores new ways of working, constantly looking to innovate and improve the ways in which the organization communicates
  • Strong business acumen
  • Strong strategic thinker combined with excellence in tactical implementation.
  • High personal accountability combined with the ability and experience to influence decision-making at a strategic level.
  • High learning agility. Able to apply problem-solving approaches / mindset to unfamiliar areas or challenges
  • Deep understanding of the external/health care environment and stakeholder landscape. 
  • Deep understanding of the biopharma industry more broadly.
