YOUR ROLE

We are seeking a Regional Category Leader to provide strategic direction and leadership for category management activities within the automotive purchasing organization. This role is focused on aligning regional business needs with market capabilities, enabling effective supplier collaboration, and supporting cost and performance objectives across the supply base.

In this role, you will be part of a group of specialists responsible for:

  • Providing strategic oversight and direction for assigned purchasing categories at a regional level.
  • Leveraging market and supply chain knowledge to support informed decision-making.
  • Acting as a key interface between suppliers and cross-functional internal stakeholders.
  • Supporting initiatives focused on cost, cash flow, and supplier performance improvement.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives within category management and procurement processes.
  • Operating in a leadership capacity within a regional, cross-functional environment.


Responsibilities:

  • Review and implement strategies into category supply base.
  • Analyze regional demands to implement long term cost improvement agreements.
  • Assess, evaluate and suggest suppliers to be included into supply base.
  • Evaluate and implement cost improvement projects and analyze financial impacts.
  • Work to meet objectives related to cost and cash flow improvement as: P2P savings, payment terms, shipping terms and on time sourcing.
  • Coordinate and support business transferences as assigned preventing disruptions: tool moves, optimization, rotation, FTS changes.
  • Facilitate communication between suppliers and various groups.
  • Prepare reports on purchases, including cost analysis and present results to upper management.
  • Comply with policies and procedures.
  • Any other work activity related to your position and/or required by your immediate leader.


Must Haves (Basic Qualifications):

  • Proven work experience for more than +7 years as a Purchasing Officer, Purchasing Agent or similar role.
  • Proven knowledge of vendor sourcing practices (researching, evaluating and liaising with vendors).
  • Extensive knowledge in the automotive industry market.
  • Understanding of supply chain procedures.
  • Solid analytical skills, with the ability to create financial reports and conduct cost analysis.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Advanced organization and time management skills.
  • Good communication skills, capable of facilitating and documenting meetings.
  • Self-starting individual capable of executing assigned tasks and solving problems in a professional manner.
  • Comprehensive understanding of MS Excel, MS Word and industry standard purchase order software platforms. Experience with SAP is preferred.
  • Experience in personnel management and leadership.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Excellent organizational and teamwork skills and attention to detail.
