Job Description Summary:
Responsible for planning and directing the delivery of GI services and health education programs in a satellite clinic setting. Works under general established supervision using protocols as required. Models appropriate behavior to employees as exemplified In the Quality Plus manner, which reflects a commitment to the Continuous Process Improvement Plan (CPI) Position reporting to the Department Director. Flexible work hours five days a week, subject to non-traditional hours, in an exempt status.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Collaborates with the precepting physician in establishing/ reviewing protocols for managing acute and long-term medical needs of the patients.
- Performs a complete physical exam, obtain a complete, medical history, and records findings. Orders appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures. Interprets and integrates data to determine the preliminary therapeutic plan.
- Provides medical services and health education to adult and geriatric patients under the supervision of the Nurse Practitioner's preceptor.
- Performs necessary diagnostic and therapeutic procedures according to approved protocols developed with and under the supervision of the Nurse Practitioner's
- Preceptor which may include the following; securing, recording and evaluating the health, psychosocial, and developmental history of patients, ordering laboratory and x-ray studies, carrying out prescription drug orders under protocols, management of common or chronic illnesses, referrals, etc. Documents the processes of nursing care delivered.
- Administers or gives orders to nursing support to administer medications and injections in

- Functions as a patient advocate. Conducts follow-up care and coordinates care with other health care providers and makes appropriate referrals for continuity of care.
- Maintains accurate and complete medical records in a timely fashion.
- Demonstrates effective guest excellence with patients, families and guest.
- Provides educational counseling that will enhance patient care and preventative knowledge.
- Participates in the selection, supervision and evaluation of clinical personnel utilized in the

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
- BSN and a Master's Degree in Nursing with successfl1I completion of a Nurse Practitioner as approved by the state of Tennessee.
LICENSURE, REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION;
- RN License, APN Certification for FNP and ACLS certification. Must obtain current DEA license iSSl1ed by the Drug Enforcement Agency.
EXPERIENCE;
- Prefer two years of experience in a clinical setting.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of nurse practitioner principles and techniques. Demonstrate the ability to work cooperatively and productively in a team environment with a diverse set of employees, patients and families. Possesses computer skills sufficient to conduct word processing for document development and patient record documentation.
