The Opportunity


Working in the IT Technology team reporting to the Director, IT Technology, the Senior Network Engineer is responsible for third level support all LAN/WAN assets in the Canopy Growth global network as well as the preparation, configuration, testing and deployment of Canopy Growth Networks and infrastructure including LAN, WAN and firewalls.  As part of the Infrastructure Operations team, this role serves as a technical authority and Subject Matter Expert in projects.

Responsibilities

  • Develop technical architectures, frameworks, and strategies to meet network requirements;

  • Analyze, design, and implement network architectures

  • Ownership of Canopy Growth Network security infrastructure. Including operations, maintenance, design, and implementation of Network security technologies.

  • Ownership of Canopy Growths disaster recovery solution. Ensuring quality backup and restores are maintained to provide Canopy proper audit compliance as well as protection from ransomware type attacks

  • Provide backup for System Architect and provide 24/7 support for our International Markets

  • Design, develop and assess technical solutions to address complex network issues

  • Ensure the integration of all aspects of network solutions

  • Recommend options for resolving network design issues

  • Define and document interfaces within network, to external systems and between new and existing systems 

  • Produce and manage network architectural designs and guidance, with contributions from across all engineering and support disciplines, to achieve comprehensive network implementation

  • Providing technical documentation for remote installation and management of Canopy Growth systems for new systems deployed and/or changes to existing systems and infrastructure.

  • Design, installation and configuration internal and customer facing servers, network devices and firewalls.

  • Define and document best practices and support procedures

  • Mentor / cross train team members on existing and modern technologies

  • Maintain configuration management of Firewall and network devices including testing and deployment of patches and software updates

  • Monitor performance and maintain systems according to requirements

  • Troubleshoot issues and outages as escalated from operations teams

  • Ability to work in time sensitive projects and provide researched recommendations for a solution including implementing the selected option

  • Develop and implement project plans, risk assessments and contingency plans

  • Work with IT Security to ensure compliance with policies and monitoring of network elements

  • Develop expertise to train staff on modern technologies

  • Maintain technical documentation, manuals, and IT policies

  • Other duties as assigned

Experience

  • 7-10 years’ Proven experience as a Network Engineer, Network Architect, Network Administrator, or similar role(s)

  • 7-10 years’ Administering and supporting core HP, WatchGuard, Cisco and HPE technologies

  • 7-10 years’ Maintaining inventory and asset configuration documentation

  • 7-10 years’ experience with databases, networks (LAN, WAN, MPLS, SDWAN) and patch management

  • Knowledge of system security (e.g. intrusion detection systems, NVR)

  • 7-10 years’ data backup/recovery technologies

  • Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving aptitude

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

  • BSc/Ba in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline; professional certifications is a plus.
