JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB SUMMARY
The Driver Check-In is responsible for ensuring all products returned by customers are coded correctly and returned to inventory in a timely manner. Coordinate returns with warehouse personnel to ensure the integrity of the product being returned to inventory. Work closely with transportation and warehouse to ensure accuracy of returns. Account for all invoices and validate required compliance via proper return codes and customer signature.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Checks-in drivers who have completed their routes by verifying product returned and possible missed deliveries. Account for pallets, totes and other company property is returned.
Inspects all products returned on Sysco delivery trucks or returned by customers and/or Marketing Associates to Will-Call Department, to determine products acceptable for restocking under the Food Safety guidelines.
Follows Food Safety Procedures as outlined in company SOPs.
Follows Company’s Returns Policy and reports any incident of abuse of policy.
Documents appropriate reason code on invoice to provide efficient processing of products.
Validate invoice completed with customer’s signature and report incomplete documents to Management.
Codes damaged or inferior products according to a damage code schedule to provide accurate information for planning and evaluation activities and writes the corresponding damage code on the damaged case.
Follow proper procedures for the disposal or donation of distressed or damaged products.
Separates and disperses all products and counts the returned items to make sure quantities match the quantity written on the return sheet and invoices; lists overage on return sheet in accordance with the “available stock/warehouse location” report to re-enter the product into the inventory system as soon as possible.
Safely operates all equipment associated with warehouse activities and reports about damaged equipment to management.
Performs other related duties as assigned by the lead person or manager.
Act as backup for inventory control and quality control personnel.
Assist manager/supervisor in identifying areas to reduce shrinkage and improve quality and efficiency.
Re-box and re-label when possible and return the product to inventory.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
High school degree or equivalent.
Experience
1 year of pallet jack and/or forklift experience.
Professional Skills
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of an organization.
Must have exemplary listening skills to facilitate effective two- way communication.
Can add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Maintain a file system to include alphabetical, numerical, and chronological filing activities.
Relational Database concept.
Computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft office and ERP software.
Ability to maintain a high level of detail, understanding traceability, FIFO, LIFO accuracy and high standards to tight deadlines; in preparing documents and entering data.
Must demonstrate sound work ethics and responsible behavior.
Must display confidentiality in the execution of all duties and responsibilities.
Solid problem-solving skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Must be able to read, write and speak English.
