Senior Manager, Mobile Engineering – Design System Platform

The Senior Manager, Mobile Engineering role sits on the Design System Platform team in the Expedia Product & Technology division of Expedia Group. In this role, you will lead and inspire teams to build innovative iOS and Android experiences that will shape the future of travel. Your leadership will drive the development of cross-platform capabilities and scale innovation across our marketplace, delivering exceptional experiences to millions of travelers worldwide.

In this role, you will

  • Lead and manage a team of engineers to deliver innovative and scalable iOS and Android solutions, simplifying complex systems and enhancing user experiences.
  • Develop and execute the strategic roadmap for our design system, driving cross-platform capabilities and scaling innovation.
  • Provide technical oversight and architectural guidance to ensure best practices and high-quality standards are followed.
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing, diverse engineering team, fostering an inclusive and collaborative culture.
  • Collaborate with senior management, product teams, and stakeholders to balance team well-being, feature development, and system maintenance, building trust through effective communication and storytelling.
  • Drive operational excellence by identifying process improvements and implementing best practices to enhance team productivity and product quality.

Experience and Qualifications

  • You have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field or equivalent related professional experience.
  • You have 8+ years of experience in native mobile engineering (iOS and Android), with at least 3 years of people management experience leading diverse engineering teams.
  • You are proficient in multiple programming languages and technologies and can justify technology choices to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • You have experience implementing and scaling digital design systems and are well-versed in design thinking principles.
  • You have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience working in an agile team environment.
  • You are a strategic thinker with a track record of driving innovation and demonstrating strong leadership in technical and business domains, with resource allocation and collaboration.

The total cash range for this position in Seattle is $173,000.00 to $242,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $277,000.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
