What You Will Do:

Pratt and Whitney’s North Berwick Engineering Center (NBEC) is currently seeking an Engineering Intern with interest in Flow and Thermal analysis to work commercial and military gas turbine engines.  As a member of an Integrated Product Team, your efforts will:

  • Support the design, development, validation, production implementation and fleet management of engines flying throughout the world.   
  • Focus on the Blade Outer Air Seal (BOAS) in the Turbine, and may include: thermal modeling and analysis, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), life assessments, and review of engine-run hardware.

What You Will Learn:

  • In this role, you get exposure to and learn heat transfer, fluids, and lifting technical assessments and analyses.
  • You will collaborate with small teams and receive mentoring and coaching from experts and senior engineers in the field.
  • You will have the opportunity to get hands-on experience with Blade Outer Air Seal (BOAS)  manufacturing processes and field investigations for both Military and Commercial engine programs.
  • Engineering Interns at Pratt & Whitney work on challenging, meaningful, and impactful projects across our business.
  • Our Intern program seeks to help you develop an understanding of the aerospace industry and learn about our company and its operations.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering and actively enrolled through completion of the intern session.
  • Must have a minimum of 60 hours of credit by the start of the internship session.
  • Minimum 3.0 Cumulative GPA

Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Completed coursework in Conduction, Convection and Fluid Mechanics (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience with Solid Modeling / Finite Element Modeling / CFD, Computer programming (Perl, VBA, C++, Python, Matlab, etc), Optimization, Statistics, Manufacturing methods
  • Prior RTX internship, co-op, or work experience.

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
