The environmental associate will provide technical support on all environmental aspects (i.e. water, air & waste) at the Indy Parenteral Manufacturing (IPM) site. This includes all local and regulatory environmental compliance monitoring, supporting corporate environmental and sustainability goals & driving continuous improvement in the site's environmental aspects.  The IPM environmental associate will work closely with Indianapolis Environmental Services (IES) to ensure compliance to all campus environmental programs, permits and associated reporting.  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Aspect owner for IPM environmental aspects.
  • Conduct site self-assessments for environmental aspects to ensure IPM meets or exceeds Lilly and regulatory compliance requirements
  • Lead aspect focus teams to drive engagement in environmental programs.
  • Track and provide metrics to the site and corporate functions as required, recommend continuous improvement actions based on data trends.
  • Responsible for RCRA hazardous waste and DOT hazardous material compliance, including program management, employee training and indirect management of 3rd party waste handling technicians
  • Assess environmental impact and required actions for IPM change controls
  • Participate in the Indy campus Spill Team, providing guidance for business areas on spill cleanup and waste handling
  • Flexibility to provide health and safety support to one or multiple IPM departments, including direct safety team support for those areas
  • Provide on call support as needed to support IPM manufacturing teams

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Science, Industrial Safety or similar
  • Prior environmental experience, especially in RCRA hazardous waste and DOT hazardous material management

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of Environmental experience (manufacturing preferred)
  • Master's degree preferred
  • Strong environmental regulatory knowledge
  • Demonstrated technical leadership skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications, especially Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Strong communication and documentation skills
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong ability to analyze data to propose program and process improvements

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location.  The anticipated wage for this position is

$65,250 - $169,400

Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
