Team Overview

The Senior Analyst, Payroll Tax & Compliance is responsible for ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll tax reporting and regulatory compliance across multiple jurisdictions across North America Region. This is a hybrid position and involves regular performance of job responsibilities virtually as well as in-person at an assigned TU office location for a minimum of two days a week.

Role Overview and Core Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate calculation, withholding, reporting, and remittance of payroll taxes across assigned countries, states, and local jurisdictions.
  • Review and monitor payroll tax filings and deposits (e.g., federal, state, local, social security, unemployment) completed by internal teams or third‑party vendors.
  • Support year‑end activities and statutory filings, such as W‑2, 1099, T4, RL‑1, P60, and other country‑specific forms, in accordance with local regulations.
  • Research payroll tax legislative and regulatory changes and support timely implementation of required updates.
  • Serve as the primary owner for payroll tax notices, agency inquiries, and discrepancies, ensuring timely investigation, response, and resolution.
  • Coordinate payroll tax audits and support internal, external, and statutory audit requests.
  • Reconcile payroll tax accounts and identify variances, trends, or compliance risks requiring escalation or remediation.
  • Support payroll SOX controls, internal control documentation, and evidence testing related to payroll tax and compliance activities.
  • Assist in the development, maintenance, and execution of payroll compliance controls and checklists.
  • Ensure adherence to data privacy, confidentiality, and record‑retention requirements.

Pay Scale Information:

The U.S. base salary range for this position is $62,000.00 - $90,000.00 annually. *The salary range for this position reflects a reasonable estimate of the range of compensation for this job. At TransUnion, actual compensation is based on careful consideration of additional factors such as (but not limited to) an individual’s education, training, work experience, job-related skill set, location, and industry knowledge, as well as the scope and responsibilities of the position and market considerations. Regular, fulltime non-sales positions may be eligible to participate in TransUnion’s annual bonus plan. Certain positions may be also eligible for long-term incentives and other payments based on applicable company guidance and plan documents.
