The Directed Spend and Empowered Aging team at CVS is one of the fastest growing business units in the enterprise and is uniquely situated at the center of our retail and healthcare businesses.  As a Senior Category Manager, Directed Spend and Empowered Aging, you are responsible for driving revenue & margin growth, as well as innovation and strategy within the businesses in your span of control.  In this role, you will have senior category merchant responsibilities for the following Empowered Aging categories – Digestive Health, First Aid, Foot Care, Adult Care, Home Healthcare, & Readers - totaling a $2.5B business.  You will also be responsible for the in-store manifestation of CVS’s Directed Spend programs, including Supplemental Benefits / OTCHS, HSA/FSA, SNAP/EBT and responsible for managing the OTC and Food benefits catalog.

In this role, you will: 

  • Deliver sales and margin goals by attaining market share and thoughtfully managing all lines of the category P&L 
  • Lead and manage vendor relationships, collaborating and negotiating extensively with manufacturers and vendors to ensure brand and product strategies drive sales and profitability, as well as creating assortments and experiences (both physical & digital) that drive trust & trips with our customers.
  • Develop and implement category plans (i.e., plan optimal SKU mix; ExtraCare loyalty program; weekly, seasonal, annual promotional programs) for merchandising programs that reflect deep personal knowledge of our businesses, customers and client.
  • Initiate and execute strategic promotional strategies and marketing plans by collaborating internally with CVS partners (e.g., Inventory, Pricing, Promotion, Finance, Store Brands, Store Design and Store Operations) and supplier partners.
  • Lead and develop other colleagues including but not limited to Category Managers, Assistant Category Managers and specialists. 
  • Collaborate with internal & external partners to deliver compelling experiences. 
  • Partner closely with the CVS Digital team to strengthen the CVS.com position within the market, ensuring omni capabilities are an integral part of the experience. 
  • Develop and continually sustain a strong understanding of current competition as well as search out new competitive opportunities.
  • Customer obsessed - driving inclusive business strategies. 
  • Contribute to the development and execution of General Merchandise initiatives.

 
Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years category management and/or direct spend experience, with a track record of meeting, or exceeding, financial objectives and P&L ownership
  • Proven track record of influencing others with and without authority
  • Experience building high-performing, successful teams developing key talent. Demonstrated passion for bringing new leaders along and helping them realize their ability to impact the business
  • Experience leading under pressure, adapting to changing dynamics in real time, and finding solutions that satisfy multiple ‘customers’ of the business
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, very strong interpersonal and presentation skills and strong executive presence
  • Expertise leveraging MS Office Suite, including advanced Excel and PowerPoint capabilities
  • Travel- Ability, and willingness, to travel regularly, 20% of time, based on needs of the business

  • Advanced degree

Education
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$100,000.00 - $231,540.00


This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.  This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
