  • Hours: Monday-Friday, 7p-7:30a, rotating weekends & holidays

A Brief Overview:

The Monitor Tech is responsible for monitoring the cardiac rhythms of all telemetry patients using video monitoring system.

What you will do:

Essential Functions

*          Demonstrates a commitment to the mission of Swedish Covenant Hospital and demonstrates a service orientation and adheres to all responsibilities and standards of the Hospital.

Performs Monitor Technician duties for the Nursing Unit.

Other Functions:

1.         Monitors cardiac rhythms of all telemetry patients and maintains a safe environment

2.         Answers patient call system and obtains appropriate assistance.

3.         Keeps work area and telemetry equipment clean.

4.         Assists in orientation of new Monitor Technicians

5.         Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

6.         Orders office supplies as needed.

PATIENT CARE/AGE SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

Responsible for the needs of patients of all ages.

What you will need:

  • High School graduate

  • Successful completion of an EKG Rhythm Interpretation Course, which includes a comprehensive exam.  The course must be approved by SCH Nursing Education.

  • One (1) year hospital experience as a Monitor Technician is desirable.

  • Good communication skills

  • Ability to interact effectively with others

  • Ability to observe and report accurately

  • Technical ability for handling specialized instrumentation and equipment/

  • Ability to handle confidentiality appropriately

Patients and visitors, nursing staff, physicians, other hospital departments and outside facilities such as: hospitals, clinics and nursing homes.

ENVIRONMENT

—          Typing/computer position

—          Visual abilities required to read Cardiac Monitor

  • Ability to react quickly in emergency situation
