Job Summary

The primary purpose of this position is to provide support to the distribution centers with regard to material handling systems, facilities improvement, ergonomic design, production methods and procedures, Engineered labor standards development and maintenance, systems development and implementation, and capital project budgeting and management. Frequent independent judgments are essential. The incumbent is also required to perform all tasks in a safe manner consistent with corporate policies and state and federal laws.


The incumbent is also required to perform all tasks in observance of Rite Aid's brand and strategy and adhere to our core values and service attributes.

Responsibilities

  • Optimize current processes within the distribution center through the development and implementation of improved procedures, systems, and equipment.

  • Develop cost benefit analyses and financial models to support the distribution center's requirements, designs, and alternative selections to existing systems.

  • Develop and maintain labor standards and the productivity monitoring system for the distribution center.

  • Perform time studies to support production standards.

  • Manage capital improvement projects, including the development and execution of plans to support additional product lines or increased store volume and the development of estimates for the equipment, systems, and personnel needed to complete various projects.

  • Assist with the preparation of job performance instructions.

  • Research ergonomic and safety issues in the facility; make improvements as needed.

  • Provide technical support to the Maintenance, Operations, and Information Services groups located in the distribution center.

  • Maintain the distribution center's layout, plans, and drawings.

  • Act as the primary contact for material handling equipment vendors with regard to on-site issues and their equipment and systems.

  • Interact with the General Manager to develop the distribution center's capital and expense budgets.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, or governmental regulations. Able to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Able to present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to work with math concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
