Situated in the picturesque Middle Peninsula, our hospital serves as a vital healthcare hub, providing essential services including Emergency, Critical Care, Operating Room, and Acute Care Units. We are currently seeking a dedicated Physical Therapist I to join our team and contribute to the well-being of our patients.
Responsibilities:
• Deliver physical therapy care to assigned patient population with a focus on quality and compassion.
• Record all patient care activities accurately and promptly in the hospital medical record.
• Act as a consultant to various patient clinics within the hospital.
• Provide instruction to PT support staff, students, personnel of other disciplines within VCUHS, and patients and/or family members.
• Rotate through various clinical service areas as needed.
Qualifications:
• Licensure: Licensed (or licensure eligible) by the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Physical Therapist.
• Certification: Current CPR Certification if required by clinic or practice area.
• Experience: New graduate to up to 2 years of work experience as a Physical Therapist. Employee is expected to progress to a Physical Therapist Clinician II level within two years of employment at VCUHS.
• Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Physical Therapy.
• Preferred Experience: Previous affiliation or work experience at a similar facility.
• Preferred Education: Masters or Doctoral Degree from an accredited School of Physical Therapy.

Independent action(s) required:
Patient evaluation and implementation of plan of care, discharge planning. Ordering equipment.
Representing department at rounds and discharge conferences. Scheduling and charging patients.
Supervisory responsibilities (if applicable):
Employee may have supervisory responsibilities of Physical Therapist Assistants, Rehab Technicians, students, and volunteers.
Employee is a member of a self-directed team and applies his knowledge and experience in daily clinic problem solving.
The team will bring unresolved issues to departmental manager for assistance and guidance in their resolution.
Additional position requirements:
Employee is expected to share in weekend and holiday schedule expectations of the department or have a fluctuation of daily work hours from 8 AM to 7 PM based on patient population needs.
