The Marketing and Corporate Affairs (MCA) and Legal and Group Secretariat (L&GS) Chief Controls Office (CCO) is a line one risk function that provides integrated risk services and efficient risk management to support MCA and L&GS deliver business and customers outcomes in a safe manner.

The purpose of this role is to support the management of the MCA risk profile and provide line one risk support to MCA stakeholders. The MCA Support Unit is focused on rebuilding trust and pride in the Commonwealth Bank with direct responsibility for end-to-end marketing, branding, stakeholder insights, government relations, communications and corporate social responsibility.

Impact and Contribution:

You will play a key role within the team accountable for the management of the MCA business profile and support with enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of the risk and control environment.

You will have stakeholder management and influencing skills to be a trusted advisor to MCA stakeholders. Additionally, you will work closely with the wider MCA and L&GS CCO teams; L&GS BAU, Supplier Risk Management, Controls Assurance, Governance and Reporting teams to collaborate and support wider team initiatives.

Your Responsibilities:

In the MCA BAU Line 1 risk team to support the business with a comprehensive and integrated risk service. Providing risk management advice and undertaking risk management activities, including:

  • Managing the MCA business profile including the identification, assessment and remediation of operational risk items including Issues, Incidents, Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSAs), Compliance Self-Assessments (CSAs), Change Initiatives (RiC).

  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.

  • Be a trusted risk advisor to MCA stakeholders by providing considered pragmatic risk advice.

  • Embed and enhance risk knowledge and culture across our business stakeholders.

  • Work closely with our Line 2 Operational Risk and Compliance counterparts to ensure compliance with Group Policies, Standards and regulatory obligations.

  • We embed agile methodologies and continuous improvement practices in the team. In this agile environment we flow to work as required within our MCA and L&GS CCO team.

  • Experience in Operational Risk management with knowledge on risks, issues, incidents and risk in change.

  • Excellent communication and influencing skills to facilitate buy in and engagement from varying levels of management.

  • Process driven individuals with effective analytical, planning, organising, evaluating and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to understand and breakdown complex technical concepts and explain them to a diverse audience.

  • Demonstrated ability to function effectively both as part of a team and autonomously, can-do approach, open to new ideas and adaptable to change.

  • Prioritise effectively and work independently in a high-pressure and changing environment.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with attention to detail and ability to tailor to the audience.

  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and across business units.
