Job Description Summary

Perform the daily operations of the plant, with a focus on the Header Cell / HRSG header manufacturing process, to ensure reliability and consistency of the production line. Responsible for departmental operations planning and execution, including the management of hourly shop floor employees and the execution of professional activities within a technical discipline. Functions with some autonomy but is guided by established policies or review of end results. The job allows modification of procedures and practices covering work as long as the end results meet standards of acceptability (quality, volume, timeliness, etc.).

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Manage an operation, business, unit, or part of a production facility in order to reach defined targets in quality, cost, delivery and safety. Ensure continuous business improvement according to benchmarks and standards.
  • Lead the Header Cell / HRSG header manufacturing area, overseeing day-to-day production activities to ensure reliability and consistency of the production line.
  • Responsible for team management of hourly shop floor employees working in the Header Cell.
  • Includes direct people management responsibility including staffing and performance development. Utilizes in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline and analytical thinking and technical experience to execute policy/strategy.
  • Has knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; is aware of the competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market.
  • Uses some judgment and has some ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters to address more complicated manufacturing processes with technical variety and/or interdependent production cycles. Uses technical experience and analytical thinking. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own teams to arrive at decisions.
  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with low risks and resource requirements. Explains information and develops skills to bring team members to consensus around topics within field. Conveys performance expectations and may handle sensitive issues.

Required Qualifications

  • This role requires advanced experience in Manufacturing & Operation Management. Knowledge level is comparable to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma with relevant experience).
  • Proven experience in manufacturing operations within a shop floor environment, preferably in heavy industry, pressure parts, piping, boiler, or similar fabrication.
  • Experience in leading teams in a production environment, including the management of hourly shop floor employees.

  • Hands-on experience with fabrication processes relevant to Header manufacturing (e.g., welding, machining, assembly, inspection) and working closely with shop floor personnel.
  • Experience driving continuous improvement initiatives (LEAN, Kaizen, 5S, standard work) in a manufacturing cell or production line.
