The opportunity
The Manulife Analytics team’s main goal is to contribute incremental value to the business by leveraging data to provide insights and inform business decisions. The Senior Data Scientist is an individual contributor that is expected to lead or participate in initiatives that arise from or make use of data-driven insights.
This position is mainly accountable for the development, implementation, monitoring, and maintenance of machine learning models and other analytics or GenAI tools used in initiatives that aim to deepen client relationships, improve sales productivity and retention, and increase customers’ lifetime value.
Responsibilities
- Develop predictive models and use machine learning techniques to inform business decisions and support the overall business strategy
- Utilize Gen AI tools, data analysis, and data visualization to develop actionable recommendations that will boost sales productivity, improve persistency, and elevate customer experience
- Execute, track and evaluate marketing campaigns to identify opportunities for optimization and efficiency
- Design and deploy data insights to various stakeholders using visualization software and tools
- Collaborate with teams across the business to mine their analytics needs, address business challenges, identify business opportunities or help define the direction for new initiatives
- Lead and participate in cross-functional initiatives as a subject matter expert for data (usability, availability, quality, security) in order to achieve franchise goals and drive collective strategy
- Support key initiatives, including, but not limited to: a) Ad-hoc leads generation to support sales and marketing activities, b)Testing, validation and implementation of new platforms, software, or tools as needed c) Data quality monitoring and improvement d) Contact policy management

What we are looking for
- Graduate of Bachelor Degree preferably BS in Mathematics or Statistics, Economics or Business Management, Information Management
- At least 8 years working experience in analytics or related field
- At least 3 year experience using machine learning or statistical software (Data Robot, SAS, Azure ML, etc.) and visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.)
- Advanced programming or coding knowledge (SQL, Python, etc.)
- Experience with GenAI tools (ChatGPT, etc.) / prompt engineering is a plus
- Working knowledge of financial services industry/ insurance industry
- Knowledge in MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is a must
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong communication skills to articulate complex findings clearly to audiences with various levels of technical proficiency
- Project management skills, can identify project challenges and design solutions for them
- Very good oral, written communication and interpersonal skills
