Job Title:

Job Summary:

To administer, coordinate and implement continuing education, training services and workshops for nurses and staff within an assigned area of expertise. To act as an expert resource for patients, family members and other clinical and nursing staff. To coordinate staff education opportunities through group demonstrations and lectures on one-on-one coaching and training. To perform job duties in accordance with the medical center's purpose.

Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree in nursing and one (1) year of related experience. Experience cannot be substituted for educational requirement.

Certifications, Licenses or Registration required:  Valid RN license.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of clinical nursing procedures and protocols.  Presentation and training skills.  Verbal and written communication skills.  Interpersonal skills.  Knowledge and understanding of computer system, tools and programs.  Ability to work in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Designs and implements continuing education and training opportunities for assigned areas of nurses and staff positions.
  • Assesses the educational and training needs of assigned clinical areas.
  • Assists in determining the development and training needs for assigned clinical areas to evaluate and improve the competence and quality of care. 
  • Acts as knowledge resource for other nurses, interns, staff, patients and patient family members.
  • Develops, plans and evaluates compliance with mandatory annual in-services for employees in accordance with policies, procedures and practice standards and in collaboration with the department of hospital education.
  • Functions as or arranges for preceptor for new nurse employees in assigned clinical areas.
  • Serves on at least one nursing council, hospital, or medical center committee, task force, or project team to improve patient care or work area demonstrates core standards of exceptional customer service.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requires occasional exposure to unpleasant or disagreeable physical environment such as high noise level and exposure to heat and cold, occasional handling or working with potentially dangerous equipment, occasional exposure to bio-hazardous conditions such as risk of radiation exposure, blood borne pathogens, fumes or airborne particles, and/or toxic or caustic chemicals which mandate attention to safety considerations, occasional working hours significantly beyond regularly scheduled hours, occasional travelling to offsite locations, occasional activities subject to significant volume changes of a seasonal/clinical nature, frequent work produced subject to precise measures of quantity and quality, occasional bending, occasional lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, occasional climbing, occasional crawling, occasional crouching/stooping, occasional driving, occasional kneeling, occasional pushing/pulling, occasional reaching, occasional sitting, frequent standing, occasional twisting, and frequent walking.
