Typical pay range: $45.92 - $68.87 per hour, based on experience.

This position is eligible for a 15% differential on top of the base rate in lieu of benefits.

DEPARTMENTAL SUMMARY: The Information Technology (IT) Team provides design, development, security, and support to a broad spectrum of computer hardware and software components, all working together for the benefit of departments throughout St. Charles. We partner with our customers to best leverage various technologies to achieve the best patient outcomes possible by implementing new hardware and software solutions, upgrading existing environments, protecting the data we store, and integrating different solutions to achieve a seamless experience.

POSITION OVERVIEW: The Senior Epic Applications Analyst at St. Charles Health System is responsible for planning and executing all facets of the life cycle for those software applications supporting our hospitals and ambulatory clinics, maximizing the business value to our users of those applications. The Analyst coordinates all decisions and issues arising for an application area and conducts the design, build, testing and deployment of the Epic Electronic Health Record and supporting IT systems. The Analyst will know the EHR system’s capabilities and functional use and apply their knowledge of Patient Care and Business workflows to successfully maintain a standardized system that meets lean process needs and best practices. This position does not directly manage any other Caregivers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:

Using a comprehensive knowledge of industry best practices and SCHS experience, leads the most complex system and process improvement efforts; coordinates the integration of interrelated system improvement roadmaps; analyzes the change management processes for their respective teams and make recommendations for improvement.

Collaborates with system users towards continuous improvement of the business value delivered by our software applications.

Builds and maintains system control and application configuration data within software applications to maximize the business benefits delivered.

Ensures integrated area workgroup decisions are sound across application and operational teams.

Manages application configuration choices which support the guiding principles and strategies of the organization.

Leads standardization and process improvement opportunities while organizing build decisions.

Leads the decision process around system enhancement needs and changes to the system.

Ensures validity and integrity that interfaced data meets business requirements.

Ensures Epic STARS program requirements are understood and maintains Honor Roll specific criteria within application by developing roadmaps and timelines.

Evaluates Community Connect needs and how they integrate with design.

Participates in Governance committees such as domain groups, RAC, CPAC, etc.

Obtains multiple proficiencies in other applications including Data Courier

Designs and executes small-to-large scale application testing as required. Supports and manages large- scale testing efforts as assigned.

Troubleshoots, identifies root cause, solves and documents the most complex system problems facing the IT team at SCHS. Escalates application issues with SCHS management and if necessary, the software vendor, while maintaining issue status reports.

Analyzes and manages systems of simple to high complexity to ensure service level agreements with system clients are met; assists IT Leadership in the formulation of service level agreements.

Performs in a lead capacity when dealing with fellow caregivers and vendors, working to improve all aspects of our system applications.

Maintains data integrity and security for assigned applications and systems; leads efforts to address the most complex data integrity problems; assists in architecting data and security standards.

Collaborates with the user community to formulate training curriculum; develops training programs from scratch; mentors Application Analyst Level I's, II's, and III's.

Collaborates with users and vendors to supply the most complex reporting needs for both IT and the user community.  Attends and speaks at XGM or UGM as opportunities present. 

Manages small-to-medium scale projects and completes the associated Project Management deliverables as assigned.  Completes project tasks of simple-to-high complexity as assigned.

Participates with caregivers, Informatics and leadership to inform and advise strategic and tactical decisions. Participates actively in groups and make or facilitate strategic and/or tactical decisions for applications and other areas of responsibility. Leads cross-functional team efforts to identify the best decision, given the large variety of situations posed by projects, application problems, application maintenance efforts or re-design efforts.

Remains capable of being tasked with the most complex tasks on the most complex projects as well as mentoring others in the completion of other tasks; can be called upon to play the role of PM when required.

Collaborates with IT Leadership to guide all aspects of system documentation.

Participates in on-call rotation, as required, and participates in after hour escalation calls.

EDUCATION:                   

Required: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university OR equivalent work experience and similar successful professional experience may be substituted for Bachelor’s degree.

Preferred: Graduate of an accredited college or university. Bachelor’s degree in public or business administration, management information systems, or computer science.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION:

Required: Epic certification in at least 2 applications. If not already Epic certified on the most recent version of the Epic EHR product, must obtain within 1 month of hire. If sent for additional certification training, must pass Epic certification exam within 3 months of completing Epic certification training courses. Ability to meet St. Charles Health System driving requirements. Ability to travel to business functions/trainings/meetings at all St. Charles Health System worksites.

EXPERIENCE:

Required: Minimum of seven (7) years Epic analyst experience. Additional experience in a healthcare environment which includes systems and procedure analysis, project management, system support or operational experience in business or clinical area is beneficial.    

Preferred: Experience with Hospital-based and Ambulatory Clinic-based applications such as 3M, GE, WorkDay, Cerner, Allscripts or McKesson.
