The opportunity:

Join a high performing internal consulting team supporting AIA Australia’s Marketing and Proposition division. As the Risk and Compliance Manager, you will act as a trusted first line risk adviser to the Retail Product and Pricing teams, guiding them to identify, manage and mitigate risk across the life insurance portfolio.

In this role, you will help embed AIA’s risk and compliance frameworks, ensure obligations to customers and regulators are met, and strengthen risk ownership across the business. You will work closely with Product, Pricing, Technology, Marketing, Legal, Enterprise Risk and Compliance and key external partners involved in direct-to-consumer products and outsourced operations.

To do this successfully you will:

• Build strong relationships across Product, Pricing, Enterprise Risk and Compliance, Technology, Marketing and Legal, as well as wider AIAA stakeholders
• Support delivery and execution of Risk and Compliance plans across Marketing and Propositions, including AIA Health when required
• Manage day to day business unit risks and uplift risk behaviours through effective control design, testing and remediation
• Monitor the risk profile to identify and escalate issues, incidents and changes, and support robust root cause analysis
• Contribute to continuous improvement by developing better controls, processes and operating practices
• Provide timely insights and reporting on the business risk profile to support governance, committees and leadership
• Ensure adherence to policies, procedures and regulatory requirements, maintaining frameworks and documentation to keep the business compliant

Successful applicants will demonstrate:

• Tertiary qualifications in finance related and/or analytical discipline.
• Previous experience in financial services in audit, risk or compliance functions, preferably in health, life or general insurance environment.
• Sund knowledge of risk and compliance frameworks, methodologies and approaches with a specific focus on control design, implementation and testing.
• A strong understanding of life insurance products, distribution models, and respective regulatory, legislative requirements and Codes of Practice.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills, including demonstrated experience in coordinating input from a number of contributors.
• A strong customer focus and drive continuous improvement to better serve Customer and enterprise needs.
• An understanding of value drivers and levers; insight driven; ability to reimaging and articulate new ways forward, fixer of problems.
• Growth mindset: leans into challenges and persists in the face of obstacles; admits mistakes and take accountability; accepts constructive feedback and committed to personal growth.
• The ability to influence, negotiate and engage at all levels of the organisation; effectively builds rapport and mutually beneficial partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
