Information Systems and Cyber Division (ISCD) staff couple the latest in information system technologies, such as elastic compute clouds, containerization, microservices, real-time operating systems, and visualization frameworks, with expertise in cyber security, software architecture, software engineering, data science, Artificial Intelligence, process improvement, and software development to deliver responsive, resilient, high-performance software intensive systems to our Intelligence Community, DoD, and civilian customers.

The Engineering Applications Department (EAD) develops a wide variety of innovative tools and applications to support civil, commercial, and national security space systems. From virtual and augmented reality, to web, cloud, and desktop visualization; EAD evaluates and creates unique visual experiences that present data and analysis to key decision-makers.  

Work Model -

This is a full-time position based in El Segundo, CA, offering a hybrid work model that combines 3 regular onsite workdays and remote flexibility as the business needs allow. 

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Design and develop user interfaces and data visualizations for engineering and scientific applications
  • Create advanced visualization to enhance data analysis and decision-making processes
  • Collaborate with UI/UX designers to translate design mockups and user experience concepts into functional products
  • Engage with stakeholders, including the Intelligence Community, DoD, and civilian customers, to understand and meet their requirements
  • Foster innovation by staying current with emerging technologies and industry best practices

What You Need to be Successful – Member of Technical Staff – System Software Engineering

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related STEM field
  • 2 years of experience in frontend development
  • Proficiency in TypeScript and modern JavaScript frameworks and libraries
  • Experience with advanced visualization libraries such as D3.js or Three.js
  • Experience with unit and integration testing frameworks/tools such as Jest and Cypress
  • Strong understanding of responsive design and user experience principles
  • Ability to work both independently, and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Willing to travel occasionally to customer sites domestically, approximately 5%
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

How You Can Stand Out

It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:

  • 4+ years of experience in developing software solutions for engineering or scientific applications
  • Proficiency in UI/UX design principles and experience with design tools like Storybook, Figma, or Adobe XD
  • Experience with rapid prototyping tools and methodologies
  • Knowledge of computer graphics
  • Development experience with graphical user interfaces and lighting in game engines
  • Previous experience working with aerospace or defense industry clients

We offer a competitive compensation package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to our business.  The grade-based pay range for this job is listed below.  Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.
