Blue Ridge Power (BRP) is looking for an experienced Manager, Accounts Payable, to join our team! The Manager, Accounts Payable will manage the AP team, process, and manage vendor and subcontractor relationships from the AP lens. They will handle verification/approval of disbursements, month-end accruals, and communication with operations. We're looking for a candidate who is attentive to detail, a problem-solver, and can operate in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple assignments. This position will report to the Manager, Accounting.

What You’ll Do:

  • Have oversight of the end-to-end AP process including verification of invoice details, coding, and obtaining approvals.  
  • Serve as backup support for all AP processes.   
  • Send out weekly & month-end AP invoice approval emails.  
  • Verify and approve ACH & Wire payments set up by Accounts Payable staff.  
  • Post month-end invoice accruals.  
  • Manage vendor and subcontractor relationships.  
  • Communicate with and support multiple project managers, along with the operations team.  
  • Assist with any Purchase Order issues.   
  • Assist with year-end audit and cost certification inquiries.  
  • Complete and assist with bank reconciliations.  
  • Participate in vendor maintenance (setup, terms, etc.). 
  • Prepare, issue, and manage lien waivers from vendors and subcontractors, as needed.  
  • Manage AP staff. Provide ongoing coaching including evaluation of and identification of training opportunities for staff members to enhance their performance, development, and work product. Address performance issues and make recommendations for personnel actions.  
  • Lead system and process improvement initiatives ensuring proper policies and controls are in place.  
  • Complete ad hoc reporting and analysis as required.  
  • Other duties as assigned by the Manager, Accounting.  

Must-Haves

  • 5+ years of accounts payable experience.  
  • 2+ years' experience managing multi-person teams.

  • Must be detail-oriented with exceptional analytical and organizational skills.  
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced environment.  
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate in a clean, concise, and effective manner with internal and external stakeholders.  
  • Organized, diligent, and able to troubleshoot, problem-solve and prioritize.  
  • Proficient in data entry and management.  

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Experience in the construction industry, preferably in solar or renewable energy  
  • IFS experience.  
  • Experience with Purchase Orders.  

Education and Certifications:   

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, finance, or other related major required.  

Working Environment and Physical Demand:    

  • This position will be onsite based in our Asheville, NC office.  
  • The position works in an office environment.
  • Fast-paced environment requiring the ability to simultaneously balance many assignments.  
  • Ability to work independently, raise issues, and propose solutions for the broader team.  
  • Must be able to sit/stand at a desk and utilize a computer, for extended periods.
