Salary: $63,747.00-$72,201.00 (pro-rata) base salary per annum

About the role:
We have an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic team leading our approach to the provision of quality care to clients of the Alcohol and Drug Service. The Smoking and Vaping Cessation Support Worker will deliver education, advice, brief interventions and counselling support to individuals seeking to reduce or cease smoking and/or vaping. It will support evidence-based cessation initiatives that aim to reduce smoking and relapse rates, improving health outcomes for people receiving care and treatment from SVHS as well as working with SVHS departments in supporting people to get best practice smoking cessation advice and information. The position will participate/lead in the development of innovative and health promotion activities to support smoking and vaping cessation.

About you:
We are seeking a skilled and energetic Smoking and Vaping Cessation Support Worker who possess a passion for person centred care. We welcome applications from people who are eager to provide holistic, client centred care whilst educating staff and clients on evidence-based tobacco smoking and nicotine vaping cessation through a variety of teaching strategies.

Selection Criteria:
1. Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent’s Health Australia
2. Demonstrated evidence-based tobacco smoking cessation knowledge and skill.

3. Relevant tertiary qualifications in health, counselling, psychology, nursing or a related field and eligibility for membership of the relevant professional association.

4. Demonstrated clinical skills in assessment, brief interventions with clients experiencing drug and alcohol problems.
5. High level computer skills, including Microsoft Office, and previous experience with electronic patient record systems.
6. Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication as well as interpersonal skills.
7. Have current non-smoker and non-vaper status.
