JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Summary:

The Inbound Receiver is responsible for accurately identifying, verifying, and recording inbound shipments while ensuring product and packaging quality. This role plays a critical part in the receiving process, collaborating with other team members to facilitate proper sorting, staging, and flowing of inbound products. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, dependable, and capable of working in a fast-paced warehouse environment.

Essential Duties:

  • Accurately identify, verify, record, and receive inbound shipments.

  • Ensure product and packaging quality align with company standards.

  • Inspect containers for cleanliness, pests, and odors before offloading.

  • Interact and work hand in hand with Bahamas Customs with documentation and identification of products.

  • Verify and document container temperature for refrigerated loads, reporting any temperature deviations.

  • Match product license plates with manufacturing numbers, pack sizes, and quantities.

  • Capture UPC codes and document expiration/manufacturing dates for dated items.

  • Reject any product outside designated shelf-life ranges and notify the Category Manager.

  • Work with Quality Assurance to inspect all inbound produce loads and report any subpar products.

  • Document discrepancies on receiving worksheets and escalate issues to Inbound Supervisors.

  • Maintain accurate receiving records using the Sysco Warehouse Management System (SWMS).

  • Oversee and ensure proper unloading procedures in collaboration with the unloading service by ensuring proper sorting, segregating, staging, and flowing of inbound products.

  • Checks, inspects, examines and counts all products being unloaded for quality and quantity against Purchase Orders.

  • Informs Warehouse management and Merchandising of any discrepancies on purchase orders.

  • Make sure that the drivers are backed up to the proper door and their trailers are secure before unloading begins.

  • Documents all overages, shortages and damages. 

  • Cleans dock area as needed.

  • Performs other warehouse duties as assigned.

  • Adhere to all company policies, including food safety regulations and inbound receiving procedures.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 18+ years of age

  • High school education/GED or 6 months related warehouse experience or training.

  • Previous forklift operation experience.

Essential Skills and Knowledge

  • Ability to read a limited number of two and three syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. 

  • Ability to print and speak simple sentences.

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 

  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. 

  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

  • Basic computer skills.

  • Previous receiving experience with warehouse management software
