Position Overview:

Sinclair Marina is looking for a skilled and safety-focused forklift operator to join our team as a Logistics Coordinator. In this key role, you will be responsible for safely operating the forklift to maneuver boats in and out of dry stack storage, coordinating with marina staff to optimize boat placement and retrieval, and ensuring that all safety protocols are strictly followed.

Your responsibilities will also include conducting routine maintenance checks on equipment, guiding and training staff on boat launches and stows, and collaborating closely with the Operations Manager to enhance overall operational efficiency.

This role is essential for maintaining smooth operations, upholding safety standards, and delivering exceptional service to our customers. Success in this position requires a strong commitment to safety, keen attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Functions:

  • Safely operate a forklift to lift, move, and position boats onto the trolley system or in designated areas within the marina, including our dry stack storage facility.
  • Assist with the launching and retrieval of boats from the water, ensuring proper handling and placement.
  • Use applications such as Lightspeed and SpeedyDock to review launch schedules and access customer information.
  • Perform daily inspections and routine maintenance of the equipment (e.g., tractors, forklifts) to ensure it is in safe working condition.
  • Assist with the organization and maintenance of storage areas, keeping them clean and orderly.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service by assisting visitors, providing guidance, and addressing any concerns.
  • Collaborate effectively with the sales and service departments to achieve broad objectives across the facility.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, or operational issues to the Operations Manager promptly.
  • Participate in regular safety meetings and training sessions to stay current on best practices and safety standards.
  • Aid in other marina-related duties as needed, such as dock maintenance, fueling operations, and general upkeep.
  • Assist with occasional onsite and offsite promotional events and boat shows, including setup and breakdown as needed.
  • Any additional duties assigned for success.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with operating heavy equipment, including personal or limited professional experience.
  • Basic understanding of boats and boating safety practices.
  • Fundamental mechanical skills and ability to use simple hand tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining safety standards.
  • Experience with trailering and towing operations.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills.       
  • Valid driver's license with a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) that meets company standards, along with a clear background check and drug screening.
  • Availability to work full weekends.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Valid forklift operator certification.

  • Proven experience operating a forklift in a safe and efficient manner.

  • Previous experience working in a marina or similar environment.

  • Strong knowledge of boat handling and storage procedures.

Working Conditions:

  • Performs work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Constantly operates forklift, motorized vehicles, and other heavy equipment.
  • Moves up to 50 pounds and performs tasks requiring physical exertion.
  • Communicates clearly and effectively with forklift spotters.
  • Observes area surrounding forklift, including periphery, to safely detect potential hazards.
  • Judges distances and accurately determines fork placement in relation to boats.
  • Works near water and on docks traversing uneven terrain.
  • Occasionally performs tasks at heights up to 70’ from a safety cage platform for maintenance and adjustment of the storage racks.
