Job Summary:

We are currently looking for Legal and Compliance interns to join our Center of Excellence (CoE) in Raleigh. You will work closely with a senior mentor to gain knowledge and experience in your field, and cooperate with a broader international team both locally and globally. 

In this role, you will work in a globally distributed team of lawyers and contract specialists to support the Red Hat sales and procurement teams in structuring, negotiating, and closing contracts. You’ll also collaborate with our finance and product management teams and assist Red Hat counsel with commercial legal functions. As a Legal Intern , you’ll need to have excellent communication skills to interact with internal and external business clients while addressing complex issues in an accurate and clear, yet thorough manner. You should have passion for technology, excellent problem-solving skills, and an ability to thrive in a fast-paced, changing environment.

The focus for Red Hat's Intern Program is a dual partnership between the Emerging Talent Team, and our intern managers. We can offer you professional development, social engagement and networking, performance and development, and meaningful work throughout your time at Red Hat.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Review, revise, and negotiate non-disclosure agreements (NDAs)

  • Provide support and assistance to Red Hat’s commercial attorneys worldwide 

  • Assist with master software subscription agreements, master services agreements and statements of work (SoWs), partner agreements for resellers, distributors, and cloud providers, and procurement agreements

  • Help educate customers about open source licensing and Red Hat’s subscription business model

  • Network with other talented interns in an inclusive and diverse workplace where you can be yourself and thrive

Required Skills:

  • Demonstrated interest in software, information technology (IT), intellectual property (IP), or related legal issues

  • Knowledge in contract negotiations in the technology or software industry; solid knowledge of commercial contracting law and related issues such like IP and licensing

  • Excellent communication skills demonstrated through your work experience, including the ability to explain complicated concepts in simple, audience-appropriate terms

  • Analytical, negotiation, and drafting skills demonstrated through your work experience

  • Exceptional organizational skills with an ability to manage simultaneous projects under deadline pressure

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision while maintaining a firm focus on problem-solving
