$63.45 - $95.20The Division of Pediatric Psychology & Neuropsychology is excited to announce an opening for a pediatric neuropsychologist. This position has a primary focus in neurology with opportunity for generalist work available. The patient population includes a heavy emphasis on epilepsy, including pre-and post-surgical evaluations, though a wide variety of neurological conditions are referred. The work is anticipated to be primarily outpatient and focused on ages 3 to 18 years. Opportunities exist for multidisciplinary clinic involvement, program development, and early childhood evaluations. Psychotherapy is not expected.
The position comes with a faculty appointment at Wake Forest School of Medicine commensurate with experience. Involvement in training of our pediatric neuropsychology postdoctoral fellow and prospective practicum students is integral to the position. The successful candidate will be eligible for board certification in clinical neuropsychology via ABPP. Additional requirements include eligibility for license in NC and experience working with children with complex medical conditions. A preference will be given to candidates with experience working with children with epilepsy and other neurological conditions.
Essential Functions
Physical Requirements
Hearing (corrected) adequate for oral / aural communication with patients, team members, family, visitors. Vision (corrected) adequate for reading. Intelligible speech and normal language/cognitive skills. Must be able to push patients in a wheelchair or stretchers. May lift and carry up to 20 pounds frequently and rarely 21-50 pounds. Sitting, standing, and walking required throughout the day. Job duties sometimes require climbing stairs, kneeling, twisting, bending. May have to transfer patients. Personal Protective Equipment such as gloves, goggles, gowns, and masks are sometimes required due to possible exposure to hazardous chemicals or blood and body fluids.
Education, Experience and Certifications
Ph.D. or Psy.D. degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology including a full time 1 year pre-doctoral internship required. Completion of a full-time two year post-doctoral fellowship with training in neuropsychology required. Current valid license to practice psychology in the applicable state required.
